A more approximate green's function for the electric field vector with anisotropic properties

    No full text
In this study, approximate Green's functions for a vector equation for the electric field with anisotropic dielectric permittivity and magnetic permeability is obtained by means of homotopy perturbation method (HPM). The HPM deforms the nonlinear partial differential equations to a system of manageable partial differential equations. These systems become amenable to analytical solutions which have been expressed in the form of an infinite power series. The results reveal that the proposed method is very effective and simple and can be applied to other nonlinear problems. © 2012 VSP.238702 FP7 People: Marie-Curie Actions, PEOPLEThe authors would like to thank the anonymous referee for his or her valuable comments and discussions. The effect of manganese on the microstructure and mechanical properties of leaded-tin bronze

In this work, the effect of manganese (Mn) on microstructure and mechanical properties of leaded-tin bronze was studied by using scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy techniques, and tensile, fatigue and adhesive wear tests. It was observed that Mn decreased the wear resistance at the beginning stage of wear and markedly increased the fatigue life by preventing the formation of brittle and fragile (Zn, Cu)S phase, but it did not affect importantly the yield point, tensile strength, elongation and hardness. It was concluded that leaded-tin bronzes containing Mn can be preferred in manufacturing of machine elements in which fatigue is important. © 2001 Elsevier Science B.V

Dramatic improvement of pulmonary mucormycosis after surgery in a case without immunodeficiency

    No full text
Pulmonary mucormycosis is caused by infection with an opportunistic fungus of the order Mucorales and is an acute, rapidly developing, and often-fulminant process usually occurring in immunocompromised individuals and rarely in immunocompetent people. We describe here pulmonary mucormycosis in a patient treated with colchicine for prophylaxis of the familial Mediterranean fever attacks in the absence of another risk factor. Helical thorax computed tomography and thoracotomy showed purulent abscess. © 2006 Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, Inc
