    On Period and Burst Histories of AXPs and SGRs and the Possible Evolution of these Objects on the P-Pdot Diagram

    In this paper, timing data for all of the anomalous X-ray pulsars and soft gamma repeaters are compiled. Timing properties of these objects are investigated. The effect of bursts of soft gamma repeaters on their period history is investigated. The P-Pdot diagram for pulsars, X-ray binaries, anomalous X-ray pulsars, soft gamma repeaters and dim radio quiet netron stars is constructed. The possible evolutionary tracks for anomalous X-ray pulsars, soft gamma repeaters and dim radio quiet netron stars are examined.Comment: 66 pages, 9 figures, submitted to Turkish Journal of Physic

    Early phases of different types of isolated neutron star

    Two Galactic isolated strong X-ray pulsars seem to be in the densest environments compared to other types of Galactic pulsar. X-ray pulsar J1846-0258 can be in an early phase of anomalous X-ray pulsars and soft gamma repeaters if its average braking index is ~1.8-2.0. X-ray pulsar J1811-1925 must have a very large average braking index (n~11) if this pulsar was formed by SN 386AD. This X-ray pulsar can be in an early phase of evolution of the radio pulsars located in the region P~50-150 ms and \.{P}~10141016^{-14}-10^{-16} s/s of the P-\.{P} diagram. X-ray/radio pulsar J0540-69 seems to be evolving in the direction to the dim isolated thermal neutron star region on the P-\.{P} diagram. Possible progenitors of different types of neutron star are also discussed.Comment: to appear in the International Journal of Modern Physics

    A Novel Identity-Based Privacy-Preserving Anonymous Authentication Scheme for Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication

    This paper proposes a novel bilinear pairing-free identity-based privacy-preserving anonymous authentication scheme for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication, called “NIBPA”. Today, vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) offer important solutions for traffic safety and efficiency. However, VANETs are vulnerable to cyberattacks due to their use of wireless communication. Therefore, authentication schemes are used to solve security and privacy issues in VANETs. The NIBPA satisfies the security and privacy requirements and is robust to cyberattacks. It is also a pairing-free elliptic curve cryptography (ECC)-based lightweight authentication scheme. The bilinear pairing operation and the map-to-point hash function in cryptography have not been used because of their high computational costs. Moreover, it provides batch message verification to improve VANETs performance. The NIBPA is compared to existing schemes in terms of computational cost and communication cost. It is also a test for security in the random oracle model (ROM). As a result of security and performance analysis, NIBPA gives better results compared to existing schemes

    Multiple Parton Interactions in Z+4j, W\pm W\pm +0/2j and W+ W- +2j production at the LHC

    The expected rate for Multiple Parton Interactions (MPI) at the LHC is large. This requires an estimate of their impact on all measurement foreseen at the LHC. Conversely it provides new means of studying MPI at the LHC. In this paper we examine the role of MPI at the LHC, with the design energy of 14 TeV, in - Z production in association with four jets, - W\pm W\pm in association with zero or two jets. -W+ W- in association with two jets. In all cases the vector bosons are assumed to decay leptonically. The MPI contribution to Z+4j is dominated by events with two jets with balancing transverse momentum. It is possible to achieve a good signal to background ratio, close to 20%, for MPI compared to Single Interaction processes by selecting events with two jets with large separation in the transverse plane. The corresponding statistical significance for a luminosity of 1 inverse fb is about 6.9 for the mu+mu- channel alone. The final state channel in which only two same-sign high transverse momentum charged leptons are required and additional hard jets are vetoed is dominated by MPI, with an expected yield of 2500 events with the full LHC luminosity.Comment: Accepted for publication in JHE
