    A comparision for nutrient level in soil and plant between cut and carry and grazing pasture systems

    Cultivating pastures in cut and carry (CC) and grazing (GZ) systems may potentially affect nutrient availability in soil and nutrient concentration of grass vegetation. The objective of this study was to compare soil nutrient availability and grass nutrient concentration between the two pasture systems namely CC and GZ, which was conducted in Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Sarawak Campus (UPMKB). Twenty-nine (29) blocks were established across the systems, sampling for CC pasture was done by systematic grid sampling method and sampling for GZ pasture was based on the location of waterways and manure deposition respectively, for CC and GZ systems. The findings reveal that the CC system had significantly higher pH, TOC, TN, AP, AFe, and AMn values (except CC1 and CC5) compared to GZ, which had very strongly acidic pH with lower TN and AP. A reason for this observation could be due to difference in fertilizer management practices, the GZ, only relied on animal excreta as source of nutrients. Consequently, the repeated application in CC system had helped higher nutrient uptake by grasses that resulted in production of high-quality Napier grass. The soil nutrient status in intensive GZ system should be monitored closely to prevent losses of fertility and fertilization programme should be implemented to supplement the organic nutrients provided by the animal excretes

    Development of gluten-free steamed cake using green saba banana flour

    Along with the increase of diagnosed Celiac patient, gluten-free (GF) foods have shown a significant increase in worldwide consumption. The removal of gluten and replacement with other ingredients to improve the palatability have caused unsatisfactory nutritional profile in GF foods. Green banana flour is known to content high resistant starch (RS) that is beneficial for human health. Saba banana is a locally grown banana, though widely available, but it has limited industrial applications. To add-value to Saba banana and addressing the issue of low nutritional quality of GF food, a steamed cake was developed using green Saba banana flour (GSBF), soy protein isolate (SPI) (0%, 10% and 15%) and a commercial cake stabilizer, Ovelette (0%, 3.5% and 7%). Characterisation of the flour (colour, oil holding capacity, water holding capacity, proximate content and resistant starch content) and cake batters (viscosity and specific gravity) were carried out. The specific volume, weight loss, colour, texture and sensory acceptance of the cake were investigated. GSBF was found to contain high RS and dietary fibre but darker in colour. Depending on the concentration, SPI and stabilizer increased the batter viscosity and affected the specific volume and colour of the cakes. The texture properties were generally improved with the additives used. The most acceptable formulation was identified from sensory evaluation; it contained higher protein, dietary fibre and RS than its gluten-containing counterpart. Results obtained show that appropriate amount of SPI and Ovelette could effectively improve the physical, textural and nutritional properties of the cake

    Manajemen Server Jaringan Komputer Berbasis Teknologi Virtualisasi Menggunakan Proxmox

    Berdasarkan penelitian yang dilakukan oleh penulis, terdapat dua buah mesin server yang memiliki resources yang kurang baik karena menggunakan personal computerdengan spesifikasi bukan untuk server, sehingga tidak bisa melayani clientdengan baik. Selainitu tidak terdapat server pusat penyimpanan data untuk berbagi data. Solusi untuk permasalahan resources server adalah mengganti dengan satu unit PC Server dengan spesifikasi yang tinggi. Dan dikarenakan terdapat dua buah server maka metode yang digunakan untuk masalah ini adalah Teknologi Virtualisasi. Semua mesin server tersebut dibangun dalam teknologi virtualisasi dengan menggunakan Proxmox. Proxmox adalah software opensource untuk menjalankan Virtual Machine. Dengan proxmox dapat meminimalisir penggunaan hardware dan memudahkan dalam maintenance karena menggunakan Web Base Management untuk pengaturannya. Dan dengan dibangunnya server pusat data untuk penyimpanan data nilai dan berbagi data maka akan memberikan kemudahan dalam melakukan pekerjaan. Manfaat dari penelitian ini untuk mengefesiensikan waktu dan biaya dalam maintenance server serta penggunaan resource secara optimal
