keV sterile neutrino dark matter in gauge extensions of the standard model
It is known that a keV scale sterile neutrino is a good warm dark matter
candidate. We study how this possibility could be realized in the context of
gauge extensions of the standard model. The na\"ive expectation leads to large
thermal overproduction of sterile neutrinos in this setup. However, we find
that it is possible to use out-of-equilibrium decay of the other right-handed
neutrinos of the model to dilute the present density of the keV sterile
neutrinos and achieve the observed dark matter density. We present the
universal requirements that should be satisfied by the gauge extensions of the
standard model, containing right-handed neutrinos, to be viable models of warm
dark matter, and provide a simple example in the context of the left-right

Quantum Hall effect in narrow graphene ribbons
The edge states in the integer quantum Hall effect are known to be
significantly affected by electrostatic interactions leading to the formation
of compressible and incompressible strips at the boundaries of Hall bars. We
show here, in a combined experimental and theoretical analysis, that this does
not hold for the quantum Hall effect in narrow graphene ribbons. In our
graphene Hall bar, which is only 60 nm wide, we observe the quantum Hall effect
up to Landau level index k=2 and show within a zero free-parameter model that
the spatial extent of the compressible and incompressible strips is of a
similar magnitude as the magnetic length. We conclude that in narrow graphene
ribbons the single-particle picture is a more appropriate description of the
quantum Hall effect and that electrostatic effects are of minor importance.Comment: RevTex, 5 pages, 4 figures (matches published version
Linear Collider Test of a Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay Mechanism in left-right Symmetric Theories
There are various diagrams leading to neutrinoless double beta decay in
left-right symmetric theories based on the gauge group SU(2)_L x SU(2)_R. All
can in principle be tested at a linear collider running in electron-electron
mode. We argue that the so-called lambda-diagram is the most promising one.
Taking the current limit on this diagram from double beta decay experiments, we
evaluate the relevant cross section e e to W_L W_R, where W_L is the Standard
Model W-boson and W_R the one from SU(2)_R. It is observable if the life-time
of double beta decay and the mass of the W_R are close to current limits. Beam
polarization effects and the high-energy behaviour of the cross section are

The asymptotic covariance matrix of the Oja median
The Oja median, based on a sample of multivariate data, is an affine equivariant estimate of the centre of the distribution. It reduces to the sample median in one dimension and has several nice robustness and efficiency properties. We develop different representations of its asymptotic variance and discuss ways to estimate this quantity. We consider symmetric multivariate models and also the more narrow elliptical models. On the Efficiency of Affine Invariant Multivariate Rank Tests
In this paper the asymptotic Pitman efficiencies of the affine invariant multivariate analogues of the rank tests based on the generalized median of Oja are considered. Semiparametric mixture models and repeated measures: the multinomial cut point model
Suppose that we have "m" repeated measures on each subject, and we model the observation vectors with a finite mixture model.  We further assume that the repeated measures are conditionally independent. We present methods to estimate the shape of the component distributions along with various features of the component distributions such as the medians, means and variances.
