The title compound, C6H4Br2S, represents a versatile building block for the preparation of Ï-conjugated redox-active thienyl oligomers and metal-mediated cross-coupling reactions. This is due to the presence of an electrochemically active thienyl heterocycle and a reactive dibromoÂvinyl substituent, which easily undergoes dehydroÂbromination in the presence of n-butylÂlithium to afford 2-ethynylÂthioÂphene. In the molecule, the alkenyl unit and the thioÂphene ring are almost coplanar with an angle of 3.5â

International audienceThe bronzes deposit of the Vieil-Ăvreux, uncovered in 1840, previously studied as antiquarian discoveries, disconnected, or nearly so, from their archaeological context, were mostly considered as art pieces or as witnesses of ancient cults. The re-examination of archives (letters, notes, graffiti, drawings, plans) and finds, in connection with recent excavations, has found a tremendous echo in comparing these data to those from other sanctuaries in the vicinity. It now allows a new multidirectional approach of this kind of deposits associated to the closing of temples at the end of the 3rd c. AD, posing the question of a probable specific public rite, adapted to the difficult economic, political and administrative situation.
Syntheses, Crystal Structure and Physico-Chemical Studies of Sodium and Potassium Alcoholates Bearing Thienyl Substituents and their Derived Luminescent Sm(III) Alkoxides
International audienceThe synthesis, structural characterization, electrochemistry and luminescence properties of a series of alkali metal alcoholates and Sm(III) alkoxides with thiopheneâbasedâOR substituents are presented. The alkali metal alcoholates 7-15 have been obtained by deprotonation of the carbinol with NaH or KH. Their molecular structures consist of tetranuclear alkali metal alcoholates with a distorted cubaneâlike M4O4 core (X-ray structure analyses). Each alkali metal is surrounded by three carbinolate ligands and (depending on the derivative) by additional tetrahydrofuran molecules. The mononuclear samarium alkoxides {Sm[OC(C4H3S)3]3(thf)3} * thf (16) and {Sm[OC(C16H13S)]3(thf)3} * thf (17) were synthesized by the salt metathesis reactions between {[KOC(C4H3S)3]4(thf)2} * thf (7), [NaOC(C4H3S)3]4(thf)2 (8) or {[KOC(C16H13S)]4(thf)3} * Âœ thf (11), respectively, and SmCl3 in thf solution. The molecular structures of these airâsensitive base adducts have been determined by singleâcrystal Xâray crystallography and reveal an approximately octahedral coordination sphere around the samarium metal centres with three methoxido ligands and three facially arranged thf molecules. The electrochemical properties are essentially dominated by the oxidation of the thienyl units. The emission spectra of the carbinols and their derived potassium and sodium compounds display broad bands attributed to the Ï*âÏ transitions of the aromatic ligands. Luminescence studies performed on complexes 16 and 17 reveal the typical fâf transitions of the Sm(III) ion. The photophysical data suggest that an energy transfer from the ligand to the metal centre operates
International audienceThe excavation carried out since 2005 on the urbanized central temple of the cult complex at Le Vieil-Ăvreux (Eure) provide positive developments and a precise chronological sequence of the last decades of the life of the sanctuary, its official closing, its transformation into a castellum, and its well organized demolition. All these features attest to the permanency of the public authorities along these successive radical modifications.
The title compound, [Fe(C5H5)(C7H5Cl2)], represents a versatile building block for the preparation of Ï-conjugated redox-active compounds or polymetallic organometallic systems due to the presence of the electrochemically active ferrocenyl unit. It is therefore a potential starting material for the preperation of the corresponding alkyne. In the crystal, the alkenyl unit and the cycloÂpentaÂdienide ring are almost parallel, with an angle between the best planes of only 10.6â
