Use of the Biosorption Process to Eliminate Hazardous Substances from the Aqueous Solution

Biosorpce je fyzikálně-chemický a metabolicky nezávislý proces založený na různých mechanismech, včetně absorpce, adsorpce, iontové výměny, komplexace povrchů a srážení. Jako odvětví biotechnologie je biosorpce zaměřena na odstranění nebo zpětné získání organických a anorganických látek z roztoku biologickým materiálem. Ten může zahrnovat živé nebo mrtvé mikroorganismy a jejich složky, mořské řasy, rostlinné materiály, průmyslové a zemědělské odpady a přírodní zbytky. Poměrně dobrá účinnost tohoto procesu i při nízké koncentraci kovu, podobnost s postupem iontové výměny, ale především jeho levnější a ekologičtější alternativa k běžným technikám, vyústila ve vyspělou biosorpční technologii. Přesto je jeho přijetí pro průmyslové čištění odpadních vod ve velkém měřítku stále vzdálenou realitou. Cílem bakalářské práce je provést analýzu různých aspektů biosorpční technologie, vycházející z různých dosud používaných biosorbentů a různých faktorů ovlivňujících tento proces. Lepší ekonomická hodnota biosorpční technologie souvisí i s opakovaným opětovným použitím biosorbentu s minimální ztrátou účinnosti. V této souvislosti je v bakalářské práci také popsána desorpce kovových polutantů, jakož i regenerace použitého biosorbentu.Biosorption is a physicochemical and metabolically independent process based on various mechanisms, including absorption, adsorption, ion exchange, surface complexation, and precipitation. As a branch of biotechnology, biosorption is focused on the removal or recovery of organic and inorganic substances from solution by biological material, which may include living or dead microorganisms and their components, seaweed, plant materials, industrial and agricultural waste and natural residues. The relatively good efficiency of this process even at low metal concentrations, the similarity to the ion exchange process, but above all its cheaper and more environmentally friendly alternative to conventional techniques, has resulted in advanced biosorption technology. Nevertheless, its adoption for large-scale industrial wastewater treatment is still a distant reality. The purpose of the bachelor thesis is to analyze various aspects of biosorption technology, based on various biosorbents used so far and various factors influencing this process. The better economic value of biosorption technology is also related to the repeated reuse of biosorbent with minimal loss of efficiency. Im Projektantrag gab das Konsortium folgende Ziele an: "Die auf Grundlage des Capability-Ansatzes entworfene Konzeption nachhaltiger Entwicklung hat durch die Bezugnahme auf die bedürfnisorientierten Ziele der Brundtland-Definition Integrationskraft und verbindet explizit intragenerationale mit intergenerationaler Gerechtigkeit. Diese Konzeption wird zu einem Indikatorenset nachhaltiger menschlicher Entwicklung operationalisiert, einer quantitativen Analyse unterzogen, empirisch in verschiedenen Governance-Feldern und -Ebenen angewendet und auf ihre verallgemeinerte Verwendbarkeit in Entscheidungsprozessen geprüft und dementsprechend modifiziert."
