Tests Management in CALIPSOneo: A MDE Solution

    Get PDF
Testing in Software Engineering is one of the most important phases although, unfortunately, it cannot be always successfully fulfilled due to time constraints. In most cases, the development phase takes more time than it was estimated, entailing negative effects on the testing phase. The delay increases even more in Research and Development (R + D) projects, where the real time to execute tasks is more difficult to control. Model Driven Engineering (MDE) offers a solution to avoid testing costs without affecting the execution quality of the applied test. This paper presents a practical overview of a Model Driven Testing (MDT)-based methodology and its impact on CA LIPSOneo project, which was carried out in liaison with Airbus Defense and Space and, particularly, with the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) departmentMinisterio de Ciencia e Innovación TIN2013-46928-C3-3-RJunta de Andalucía TIC-578

This thesis Chemical kinetics effects in premixed flame propagation and ignition has been written by Alberto Gutiérrez García in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree Grado en Tecnologías Industriales, at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. This thesis will be devoted to the analysis of the performance of some well known chemical kinetic mechanisms available in the literature. To this end, simulations will be carried out over two canonical problems in the field of Combustion Science: the planar premixed flame propagation and the isobaric autoignition of a homogeneous mixture of fuel and air. Both problems are strongly dependent on chemistry and will be compared with other results available in the specialized literature, taking into account that we are, fundamentally, interested in comparisons with experiments. The mechanisms included in the analysis are the so called San Diego mechanism, developed by professor Williams and co-workers; the GRIMECH mechanism, developed at the University of Berkeley; the Galway mechanism, developed at the National University of Ireland in Galway, and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) mechanism, developed by the Chemical Sciences Divisions of this institution. Many more mechanisms are available in the literature, but this work only aims to evaluate some mechanisms and no to do an exhaustive review of existing mechanisms in the literature.Ingeniería en Tecnologías Industriale

Discovering ship navigation patterns towards environmental impact modeling

    Get PDF
In this work a data pipe-line to manage and extract patterns from time-series is described. The patterns found with a combination of Conditional Restricted Boltzmann Machine (CRBM) and k-Means algorithms are then validated using a visualization tool. The motivation of finding these patterns is to leverage future emission model

Simplified methods for next generation IP access networks planning

The scope of this paper is to derive a set of simple formulas providing a traffic aggregation in important points of an Internet access networks. The paper shows that the resources associated to the access network depend on user type-, technology and service parameter. Existing calculation methodologies applies on individual approximations whereas this proposal exposes the combined application of these individual and wellknown approximations providing a scheme of generic dimensioning formulas. The dimensioning formulas for a generic applications are derived for the three main levels: connection, session and burst level, and the traffic aggregation is considered through three different and combined variables describing users, accesses and services forming a cube with three axes. The adaptation of corresponding parameters following the different axes allows the calculation of complete access network traffic scenarios, grouped by the so called CASUAL concept: Cube of Accesses / Services / Users. A set of CASUAL based tools allows an estimation of the aggregated traffic in different access points as multiplexers, IP point of presence or edge routers

Approximation to a behavioral model for estimating traffic aggregation scenarios

    Get PDF
This article provides a comparison among different methods for estimating the aggregation of Internet traffic resulting from different users, network-access types and corresponding services. Some approximate models usually used as isolated methods are combined with a temporally scaled ON-OFF model with binomial approximations. The aggregation problem is solved using a new form of parameterization based on the composition of the source traffic accordingly to the concrete characteristics of the users, the accesses and the services. This is a new concept, called CASUAL, included within an overall network planning methodology for the design and dimensioning of Next Generation Internet

Emerging Practices in Facebook at National Parks

    Get PDF
The main purpose of this paper is to contribute to analyze recent data about the behavior of national park administrations on Facebook. As public organizations, they endeavor to proactively communicate information to citizens, promoting transparency and accountability. It is important to study the case of national parks because of their relevant role in preserving natural and cultural heritage and promoting a very rich scenario of policy-making and responsible local and global citizenship. Some insights have arisen for political management of these institutions. According to the analysis of the results, it is shown that there exists a significant presence of these entities in Facebook, even if this type of communication is perhaps in its infancy. The results suggest that a potential factor (country in which each park is located and the corresponding administration style) exists, in order to explain significant differences between parks.JEL Codes - D8; R5; Z1; Z

Purpose – This work aims to explore the behavior of stock market prices according to the autoregressive fractional differencing integrated moving average model. This behavior will be compared with a measure of online presence, search engine results as measured by Google Trends. Design/methodology/approach – The study sample is comprised by the companies listed at the STOXX® Global 3000 Travel and Leisure.Google Finance and Yahoo Finance, along with Google Trends, were used, respectively, to obtain the data of stock prices and search results, for a period offive years (October 2012 to October 2017). To guarantee certain comparability between the two data sets, weekly observations were collected, with a total figure of 118 firms, two time series each (price and search results), around 61,000 observations. Findings – Relationships between the two data sets are explored, with theoretical implications for the field sof economics, finance and management. Tourist corporations were analyzed owing to their growing economic impact. The estimations are initially consistent with long memory; so, they suggest that both stock marketprices and online search trends deserve further exploration for modeling and forecasting. Significant differences owing to country and sector effects are also shown. Originality/value – This research contributes in two different ways: it demonstrate the potential of a new tool for the analysis of relevant time series to monitor the behavior of firms and markets, and it suggests several theoretical pathways for further research in the specific topics of asymmetry of information and corporate transparency, proposing pertinent bridges between the two fields.
