Electrical conductivity and thermal behavior of solid electrolytes based on alkali carbonates and sulfates
Both thermal stability and electrical conductivity of alkali ion conducting Na2CO3 and Na2SO4, were improved by adding alkaline earth carbonates and sulfates, respectively, as well as insulating materials like ¿-Al2O3. The admixing of divalent compounds causes two effects. First a more or less extended solution can exist depending on the radius of the alkaline earth ion and is accompanied by an increase in electrical conductivity. Secondly, a phase mixture with an excess of dopant was observed that shows an enhancement in conductivity and mechanical stability. This phenomenon known as composite effect was observed in the following systems: Na2CO3-BaCO3, Na2CO3-SrCO3, Na2SO4-BaSO4, Na2SO4-¿-Al2O3
Non-stationary de Sitter cosmological models
In this note it is proposed a class of non-stationary de Sitter, rotating and
non-rotating, solutions of Einstein's field equations with a cosmological term

Brazilian Companies and the Grade of Investment
This study is featured in the context of applied typology, of descriptive goal with bibliographic outlining, in the extent of the issue it is features as quantitative, comprising the population of 70 Brazilian corporations recognized by the International certifying agents Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s and Fitch Ratings, which held the corporate investment grade in the year of 2012. Regarding the goal, the scope of this study was the development of an economic and financial indicator aiming to delimit the investment grade that companies present in their corporate structures, through a set of economic and financial indexes linked to liquidity, profitability, debt, and yield, from economic and financial demonstrations of the corporations studied.. The conclusions of the study were based in the results presented by the evolution of the statistical treatment, which were shown to be consistent for the model developed. The reliability of the model of corporate investment grade from the factorial analysis was testified by the Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient that presented value of 0.768, therefore indicating satisfactory consistence to the study
Geometry and Destiny
The recognition that the cosmological constant may be non-zero forces us to
re-evaluate standard notions about the connection between geometry and the fate
of our Universe. An open Universe can recollapse, and a closed Universe can
expand forever. As a corollary, we point out that there is no set of
cosmological observations we can perform that will unambiguously allow us to
determine what the ultimate destiny of the Universe will be.Comment: 7 pages, Gravity Research Foundation Essa
On the Creation of the Universe out of Nothing
We explain how the Universe was created with no expenditure of energy or

Oscillating universes as eigensolutions of cosmological Schr\"odinger equation
We propose a cosmological model which could explain, in a very natural way,
the apparently periodic structures of the universe, as revealed in a series of
recent observations. Our point of view is to reduce the cosmological
Friedman--Einstein dynamical system to a sort of Schr\"odinger equation whose
bound eigensolutions are oscillating functions. Taking into account the
cosmological expansion, the large scale periodic structure could be easily
recovered considering the amplitudes and the correlation lengths of the galaxy
clusters.Comment: 12 pages, Latex, submitted to Int. Jou. of Theor. Phy
On the variable-charged black holes embedded into de Sitter space: Hawking's radiation
In this paper we study the Hawking evaporation of masses of variable-charged
Reissner-Nordstrom and Kerr-Newman, black holes embedded into the de Sitter
universe by considering the charge to be function of radial coordinate of the
spherically symmetric metric.Comment: LaTex, p. 2
Non-topological solitons as nucleation sites for cosmological phase transitions
I consider quantum field theories that admit charged non-topological solitons
of the Q-ball type, and use the fact that in a first-order cosmological phase
transition, below the critical temperature, there is a value of the soliton
charge above which the soliton becomes unstable and expands, converting space
to the true vacuum, much like a critical bubble in the case of ordinary
tunneling. Using a simple model for the production rate of Q-balls through
charge accretion during a random walk out of equilibrium, I calculate the
probability for the formation of critical charge solitons and estimate the
amount of supercooling needed for the phase transition to be completed.Comment: 20 pages, 2 figures, some comments and references adde
General Solutions for Tunneling of Scalar Fields with Quartic Potentials
For the theory of a single scalar field with a quartic potential
, we find semi-analytic expressions for the Euclidean action in
both four and three dimensions. The action in four dimensions determines the
quantum tunneling rate at zero temperature from a false vacuum state to the
true vacuum state; similarly, the action in three dimensions determines the
thermal tunneling rate for a finite temperature theory. We show that for all
quartic potentials, the action can be obtained from a one parameter family of
instanton solutions corresponding to a one parameter family of differential
equations. We find the solutions numerically and use polynomial fitting
formulae to obtain expressions for the Euclidean action. These results allow
one to calculate tunneling rates for the entire possible range of quartic
potentials, from the thin-wall (nearly degenerate) limit to the opposite limit
of vanishing barrier height. We also present a similar calculation for
potentials containing terms, which arise in the
one-loop approximation to the effective potential in electroweak theory.Comment: 17 pages, 6 figures not included but available upon request, UM AC
