Orthogonal Frequency division Multiplexing (OFDM) is an effectual technique of data transmission for high speed communication schemes. However, the main drawback of OFDM system is the high Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) of the communicated signals. OFDM contain of large number of independent subcarriers, as a result of which the amplitude of such a signal can have high peak values. Coding, phase rotation and clipping are between many PAPR reduction schemes that have been proposed to overcome this problem. Here in this paper we survey on two different PAPR reduction methods adaptive clipping and selective mapping (SLM) are used to reduce PAPR. Important reduction in PAPR has been achieved using these techniques

Background: Congenital esophageal atresia with tracheo-esophageal fistula is a common congenital anomaly facing at our centre. There is various proposed anastomotic technique to avoid post-operative complications. In our center, feeding has been conventionally initiated after a contrast esophagogram done at the seventh day post repair. The current study tried to assess the benefits and risks of initiation of early feeding in these patients by placement of a Tran’s anastomotic feeding tube during the repair. Methods: Twenty-five patients had a trans anastomotic feeding tube inserted during trachea esophageal fistula repair and were followed up for different outcomes. Results: Twenty-five patients were operated out of which were sixteen males and nine were females. Early complications of esophageal atresia surgery such as anastomotic leak, surgical site infection, pneumonia and sepsis occur in eight patients. All the complications were managed successfully conservatively, however, one patient died due to anastomotic leak and subsequent septicemia. Conclusions: We conclude that early tube feeding is safe and does not increase risks of anastomotic leaks. It also reduces the need of total parenteral nutrition bringing down the costs of procedure in developing nations.

The ability of acetone and ethyl acetate extracts of the leaves of a traditional Indian medicinal plant, Indian borage (Plectranthus amboinicus Benth) to prevent spoilage of artificially inoculated model food systems (cabbage and papaya) and natural microflora of chicken meat was evaluated. These extracts were able to reduce the bacterial counts in all food systems; however, the effective concentration varied with the complexity of the system (in descending order: cabbage, papaya and chicken). A probable mode of action of extracts was investigated by analyzing the changes they cause in bacterial cell wall and leakage of nucleic acid from bacterial cells. Both acetone and ethyl acetate extracts at their respective minimum inhibitory concentrations resulted in leakage of cell constituents to an extent of 40 to 80 and 60 to 95 %, respectively, compared to the control, and finally leading to disintegration of cell walls. These findings indicate the potential use of ethyl acetate and acetone extracts of Indian borage leaves in food preservation.U radu je ispitan učinak ekstrakata lišća drevne indijske ljekovite biljke Plectranthus amboinicus Benth, izoliranih pomoću acetona i etilnog acetata, na sprečavanje rasta bakterija uzročnika kvarenja inokuliranih u uzorke svježeg kupusa i papaje, te na prirodnu mikrofloru pilećeg mesa.

    Get PDF
In today’s era of the digital world with information overload, generating personalized recommendations for the e-commerce users is a challenging and interesting problem. Recommendation of top-N items of interest to a user of e-commerce is highly challenging using binary implicit feedback. The training data is usually very sparse and have binary values capturing a user’s action or inaction. Due to the sparseness of data and lack of explicit user preferences, the recommendations generated by model-based and neighborhood-based approaches are not effective. Of late, network-based item recommendation methods, which utilize item related meta-information, are beginning to attract increasing attention for binary implicit feedback data. In this work, we propose a heterogeneous information network based recommendation model for personalized top-N recommendations using binary implicit feedback data. To utilize the potential of meta-information related to items, we utilize the concept of meta-path. To improve the effectiveness of the recommendations, the popularity of items and interest of users are leveraged simultaneously. Personalized weight learning of various meta-paths in the network is performed to determine the intrinsic interests of users from the binary implicit feedback data. To show the effectiveness, the proposed model is experimentally evaluated using the real-world dataset. Available at: https://aisel.aisnet.org/pajais/vol9/iss2/3

lung disease is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Most cases of lung diseases are found when the disease is in an advanced stage. Therefore, the development of systems and methods that begin to diagnose quickly and prematurely plays a vital role in today's world. Currently, in detecting differences in lung cancer, an accurate diagnosis of cancer types is needed. However, improving the accuracy and reducing training time of the diagnosis remains a challenge. In this study, we have developed an automated classification scheme for lung cancer presented in histopathological images using a dense Alex Net framework. The proposed methodology carries out several phases includes pre-processing, contrast normalization, data augmentation and classification. Initially, the pre-processing step is accompanied to diminish the noisy contents present in the image. Contrast normalization has been explored to maintain the same illumination factor among histopathological lung images next to pre-processing. Afterwards, data augmentation phase has been carried out to enhance the dataset further to avoid over-fitting problems. Finally, the Dense Alex Net is utilized for classification that comprises five convolutional layers, one multi-scale convolution layer, and three fully connected layers. In evaluation experiments, the proposed approach was trained using our original database to provide rich and meaningful features. The accuracy attained by the proposed methodology is93%, which is maximum compared with the existing algorithm

Fuzzy Based Balanced Scorecard for e-Business

    Get PDF
The balance scorecard [6] is a performance measurement system that supplements traditional financial measures with the criteria that measures performance from three additional perspectives: customer perspective, internal business perspective, and innovation and learning perspective. In recent years, the balanced scorecard has been applied to information technology in order to ensure that IT is fairly evaluated. The same methodology has also been applied to E-business. Since some of the parameters in the measurement are somewhat inexact, the idea of fuzzy logy can be applied to allow manipulation of both exact and inexact (fuzzy) inputs from the ebusiness to the balanced scorecard. This fuzzy model works with a grade of membership and portrays inexact information represented by fuzzy statements, and explains both fuzzy conditional statements and the inference mechanism. This paper tries to develop a frame -work for Fuzzy-based Balanced Scorecard for Ebusines
