    A review of gait optimization based on evolutionary computation

    Gait generation is very important as it directly affects the quality of locomotion of legged robots. As this is an optimization problem with constraints, it readily lends itself to Evolutionary Computation methods and solutions. This paper reviews the techniques used in evolution-based gait optimization, including why Evolutionary Computation techniques should be used, how fitness functions should be composed, and the selection of genetic operators and control parameters. This paper also addresses further possible improvements in the efficiency and quality of evolutionary gait optimization, some problems that have not yet been resolved and the perspectives for related future research

    A Pneumatic Tactile Sensor for Co-Operative Robots

    Tactile sensors of comprehensive functions are urgently needed for the advanced robot to co-exist and co-operate with human beings. Pneumatic tactile sensors based on air bladder possess some noticeable advantages for human-robot interaction application. In this paper, we construct a pneumatic tactile sensor and apply it on the fingertip of robot hand to realize the sensing of force, vibration and slippage via the change of the pressure of the air bladder, and we utilize the sensor to perceive the object’s features such as softness and roughness. The pneumatic tactile sensor has good linearity, repeatability and low hysteresis and both its size and sensing range can be customized by using different material as well as different thicknesses of the air bladder. It is also simple and cheap to fabricate. Therefore, the pneumatic tactile sensor is suitable for the application of co-operative robots and can be widely utilized to improve the performance of service robots. We can apply it to the fingertip of the robot to endow the robotic hand with the ability to co-operate with humans and handle the fragile objects because of the inherent compliance of the air bladder

    Role of Glycolysis/Gluconeogenesis and HIF-1 Signaling Pathways in Rats with Dental Fluorosis Integrated Proteomics and Metabolomics Analysis

    Fluoride is widely distributed, and excessive intake will lead to dental fluorosis. In this study, six offspring rats administrated 100 mg/L sodium fluoride were defined as the dental fluorosis group, and eight offspring rats who received pure water were defined as the control group. Differentially expressed proteins and metabolites extracted from peripheral blood were identified using the liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry and gas chromatography mass spectrometry, with the judgment criteria of fold change >1.2 or <0.83 and p < 0.05. A coexpression enrichment analysis using OmicsBean was conducted on the identified proteins and metabolites, and a false discovery rate (FDR) < 0.05 was considered significant. Human Protein Atlas was used to determine the subcellular distribution of hub proteins. The Gene Cards was used to verify results. A total of 123 up-regulated and 46 down-regulated proteins, and 12 up-regulated and 2 down-regulated metabolites were identified. The significant coexpression pathways were the HIF-1 (FDR = 1.86 × 10−3) and glycolysis/gluconeogenesis (FDR = 1.14 × 10−10). The results of validation analysis showed the proteins related to fluorine were mainly enriched in the cytoplasm and extrinsic component of the cytoplasmic side of the plasma membrane. The HIF-1 pathway (FDR = 1.01 × 10−7) was also identified. Therefore, the HIF-1 and glycolysis/gluconeogenesis pathways were significantly correlated with dental fluorosis
