In this chapter, the latest developments in the field of decision agriculture are discussed. The practice of management zones in digital agriculture is described for efficient and smart faming. Accordingly, the methodology for delineating management zones is presented. Modeling of decision support systems is explained along with discussion of the issues and challenges in this area. Moreover, the precision agriculture technology is also considered. Moreover, the chapter surveys the state of the decision agriculture technologies in the countries such as Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Israel, Malaysia, Pakistan, United Kingdom, Ukraine, and Sweden. Finally, different field factors such as GPS accuracy and crop growth are also analyzed

The new Italian SIDAPA Baseline Series for patch testing (2023): an update according to the new regulatory pathway for contact allergens

Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) is a common inflammatory skin disease caused by delayed hypersensitivity to chemical and biotic contact allergens. ACD significantly affects the patients' quality of life negatively impacting both occupational and non-occupational settings. Patch testing is the gold standard diagnostic in vivo test to precise the ACD etiology and to correctly perform prevention. According to the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA) legislative decree no. 178 of 29th May 1991, allergens are defined as medicines and therefore they are subject to strict regulation. In 2017, AIFA (decree no. 2130/2017) started a procedure to regulate contact allergens on the Italian market and actually the contact allergens temporarily authorized are reported in AIFA decree no. 98/2022, valid until November 2023. The availability on the market of contact allergens to diagnose ACD and continuous updating on the basis of new epidemiological trends are mandatory, jointly with the continuous update of the baseline and integrative series for patch testing. For this reason, the scientific community represented in Italy by the Skin Allergies Study Group of SIDeMaST (Italian Society of Dermatology and Venereology) and SIDAPA (Italian Society of Allergological, Occupational and Environmental Dermatology) are constantly working, in close relationship with the European scientific communities with large expertise in this important sector of the modern Dermatology. Herein, we report the setting up of regulatory legislation by AIFA and the new Italian Adult Baseline Series for patch testing

Italian Potential of Residual Biogenic Resources for Energy-Driven Biorefineries

A reliable assessment of the availability of bioresources represents the first step to defining local value chains of particular interest. More than 190 and 50 Mt/y of bioresources are currently available in Europe and Italy, respectively, even if they are not fully valorized. The best end use of these feedstocks is strictly dependent on specific territorial/regional peculiarities, that consequently affect the products' final properties. In this work, the Italian web-GIS-based tool “Atlante delle biomasse” was used to determine the availability of many bioresources in Italy at the regional level. A lump classification criterion was used to categorize the available biomasses, and, then, an optimization algorithm based on a process superstructure was applied to find out the available fraction of bioresources, the amount of biofuels potentially obtainable and, consequently, the regional fuel demand coverable by biofuels. In particular, only the energy-self-sufficient technologies with higher TRLs were considered in the mathematical model. The integration between the different selected bioresources led to three biofuels to be considered, evaluating the percentage of biofuel demand that could be covered for each Italian region. The final potential production of biofuels derived from local bioresources in Italy settles down on the range 9 107 – 1.6 108 GJ/y covering about 5, 50, and 100 % of methane, biodiesel and bio-LPG demand respectively. Bio-LPG demand for all regions was to be considered completely satisfied, biodiesel production was also sufficient to cover high demands, on the other hand, low values of biomethane requirements coverable were obtained

Aggression or Aggressiveness?: A research hypothesis on aggression, videogames and executive functions in preschool age

The scientific evidence found in the literature shows that aggression is innate in humans, in a reactive and proactive form. This work proposes a distinction between an aggressive act and a predisposition to aggression, highlighting how this type of behavior is normative and natural in child's development. Aggressiveness reaches its peak between two and four years old and tends to decrease sensibly and permanently throughout the life. This work traces genetic and temperamental correlates of aggressiveness, highlights the relationship between aggression and decision making and explores the elements that lead to the choice of implementing aggressive behavior. Finally, we discuss the preliminary research proposal for the development of a gaming software, structured with a set of decision tasks, including measurement of reaction times, in order to detect the predisposition to chose aggressive behavior. This will enable the correlation between the collected data and the results obtained from the temperamental tests. © 2018 IEEE
