W tekście zostały poglądowo omówione wybrane zjawiska wchodzące w obszar zainteresowania współczesnej humanistyki cyfrowej. Autorzy, wychodząc od koncepcji zwrotu w kulturze, zwracają uwagę na rosnące w XXI wieku zainteresowanie specyficznym typem sprawczości już nie tylko podmiotów ludzkich, ale i rzeczy (a nawet programów komputerowych). Ten zwrot jest niejako konieczny, ponieważ wzrasta rola technologii w procesach kulturowych, co określa się mianem technokultury. W tym kontekście opisywane są zróżnicowane formy tego oddziaływania, takie jak: algorytmy wyszukiwarek, proces cyborgizacji człowieka, rozwijający się nurt filozofii postludzkiej, nazywany transhumanizmem, oraz gry wideo - traktowane jako główne medium symulacyjne, które funkcjonuje w obszarze współczesnej popkultury.This text demonstratively discusses the selected phenomena that are in the area of interest of modern digital humanities. The authors, starting from the concept of the culture turn, point out the increasing attention to a specific type of agency not only of human beings but also of items (or even computer programmes) in the XXI century. This turn is somehow necessary because the role of technology in cultural processes is increasing what is defined as technoculture. In this context, various forms of this interaction such as: algorithms of browsers, the proces of cyborgisation of a human being, a developing current of posthuman philosophy defined as transhumanism and video games - are treated as a primary simulation medium which functions within modern popculture

Wirtualizacja życia osób z niepełnosprawnością

Artykuły zaprezentowane w monografii są odpowiedzią na sytuację, jaka zaistniała w związku z pandemią COVID-19 i jej konsekwencjami odnoszącymi się zarówno do obecności technologii informatycznych we wszystkich obszarach życia społecznego, jak i powszechności ich wykorzystania. Celem publikacji jest więc zobrazowanie złożoności i dynamiki zachodzących procesów wirtualizacji życia społecznego i ich wpływu na funkcjonowanie osób z niepełnosprawnościami, także z uwzględnieniem ostatnich wydarzeń związanych ze światową epidemią. Poszczególne rozdziały książki koncentrują się m.in. na: sposobach wykorzystania Internetu przez osoby z niepełnosprawnościami, edukacji online i kompetencjach cyfrowych osób z niepełnosprawnościami, wirtualnej aktywności obywatelskiej oraz aktywności społecznej i politycznej osób z niepełnosprawnościami. Istotny nacisk został też położony na wymiar aplikacyjny przygotowywanych tekstów. Nowe technologie i niepełnosprawność

The article is an introduction to a monograph devoted to showing the complex relations between new technologies and disability. On the one hand, they are seen as a tool for inclusion and emancipation, and on the other hand, they are a source of exclusion for people with disabilities. Our goal is to show the contextual relationships between technological solutions and the functioning of people with disabilities in everyday life. This topic is extremely important today because in connection with the COVID-19 epidemic, the role and importance of modern technologies has increased. This was due to the necessity to transfer many daily activities to virtual space. These changes had significant consequences for people with disabilities who were affected by limitations in movement, access to medical care and education and the possibility of exercising their rights to support in independent and independent life, and had to transfer their activities to a virtual space within a very short time

Tekst jest wprowadzeniem do tematyki związanej ze zjawiskami niepełnosprawności w różnie rozumianych formach edukacji. Autorzy, ukazując perspektywę modelu niepełnosprawności opartego na prawach człowieka (the human rights based disability model), poruszają takie zagadnienia, jak edukacja włączająca, inkluzja w różnych typach edukacji, osoby ze szczególnymi potrzebami w systemie szkolnictwa. Role of chemokine RANTES in the regulation of perivascular inflammation, T-cell accumulation, and vascular dysfunction in hypertension

Recent studies have emphasized the role of perivascular inflammation in cardiovascular disease. We studied mechanisms of perivascular leukocyte infiltration in angiotensin II (Ang II)-induced hypertension and their links to vascular dysfunction. Chronic Ang II infusion in mice increased immune cell content of T cells (255 ± 130 to 1664 ± 349 cells/mg; P < 0.01), M1 and M2 macrophages, and dendritic cells in perivascular adipose tissue. In particular, the content of T lymphocytes bearing CC chemokine receptor (CCR) 1, CCR3, and CCR5 receptors for RANTES chemokine was increased by Ang II (CCR1, 15.6 ± 1.5% vs. 31 ± 5%; P < 0.01). Hypertension was associated with an increase in perivascular adipose tissue expression of the chemokine RANTES (relative quantification, 1.2 ± 0.2 vs. 3.5 ± 1.1; P < 0.05), which induced T-cell chemotaxis and vascular accumulation of T cells expressing the chemokine receptors CCR1, CCR3, and CCR5. Mechanistically, RANTES−/− knockout protected against vascular leukocyte, and in particular T lymphocyte infiltration (26 ± 5% in wild type Ang II vs. 15 ± 4% in RANTES−/−), which was associated with protection from endothelial dysfunction induced by Ang II. This effect was linked with diminished infiltration of IFN-γ-producing CD8+ and double-negative CD3+CD4−CD8− T cells in perivascular space and reduced vascular oxidative stress while FoxP3+ T-regulatory cells were unaltered. IFN-γ ex vivo caused significant endothelial dysfunction, which was reduced by superoxide anion scavenging. In a human cohort, a significant inverse correlation was observed between circulating RANTES levels as a biomarker and vascular function measured as flow-mediated dilatation (R = −0.3, P < 0.01) or endothelial injury marker von Willebrand factor (R = +0.3; P < 0.01). Thus, chemokine RANTES is important in the regulation of vascular dysfunction through modulation of perivascular inflammation.—Mikolajczyk, T. Children and adolescents with pulmonary arterial hypertension : baseline and follow-up data from the polish registry of pulmonary hypertension (BNP-PL)

We present the results from the pediatric arm of the Polish Registry of Pulmonary Hypertension. We prospectively enrolled all pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) patients, between the ages of 3 months and 18 years, who had been under the care of each PAH center in Poland between 1 March 2018 and 30 September 2018. The mean prevalence of PAH was 11.6 per million, and the estimated incidence rate was 2.4 per million/year, but it was geographically heterogeneous. Among 80 enrolled children (females, n = 40; 50%), 54 (67.5%) had PAH associated with congenital heart disease (CHD-PAH), 25 (31.25%) had idiopathic PAH (IPAH), and 1 (1.25%) had portopulmonary PAH. At the time of enrolment, 31% of the patients had significant impairment of physical capacity (WHO-FC III). The most frequent comorbidities included shortage of growth (n = 20; 25%), mental retardation (n = 32; 40%), hypothyroidism (n = 19; 23.8%) and Down syndrome (n = 24; 30%). The majority of children were treated with PAH-specific medications, but only half of them with double combination therapy, which improved after changing the reimbursement policy. The underrepresentation of PAH classes other than IPAH and CHD-PAH, and the geographically heterogeneous distribution of PAH prevalence, indicate the need for building awareness of PAH among pediatricians, while a frequent coexistence of PAH with other comorbidities calls for a multidisciplinary approach to the management of PAH children
