    Construction of an Expert System Based on Fuzzy Logic for Diagnosis of Analog Electronic Circuits

    The paper presents construction of the fuzzy logic system to analog circuits soft fault diagnosis. The classical dictionary construction is replaced by fuzzy rule system. The first part refers to analog fault diagnosis, its techniques, approaches and goals. It clarifies common strategy and define differences between detecting, locating and identifying a fault in analog electronic circuit. The second part is focused on a creation of fuzzy rule expert system with use of sensitivity functions and known circuit topology. To detect, locate and identify a faulty element in a circuit the sensitivity matrix is used. The advantage of the method is its utilization in all, AC, DC and time domain. The fuzzy system, like the classical fault dictionary, can detect and locate single catastrophic faults and, on the contrary to the classical one, it also detects and locates parametric faults. Moreover, it allows identification of these faults, such that sign of the faulty parameter deviation is designated. The method has deterministic character as well as  it can be applied on the verification and production stage

    The positioning accuracy based on the UWB technology for an object on circular trajectory

    This paper presents the comparison of filtering methods – median filtration, moving average Kalman filtration and filtration based on a distance difference to determine the most accurate arm length for circular motion, as a model of wind turbine propellers movement. The experiments have been performed with the UWB technology system containing four anchors and a tag attached to 90cm arm that was rotated with speed up to 34.5 rad/s (as a linear speed of 50km/h). The trilateration concept based on the signal latency has been described in order to determinate the position of an object on circular trajectory. The main objective is the circle plane rotation (parallel and perpendicular) with respect to the anchors plane reference system. All research tasks have been performed for various cases of motion schemes in order to get the filtration method for object in motion under best accuracy goal. Filtration methods have been applied on one of two stages of the positioning algorithm: (1) on raw data got from the single anchor-tag (before trilateration); (2) on the position obtained from four anchors and tag (after trilateration). It has been proven that the appropriate filtering allows for higher location accuracy. Moreover, location capabilities with the use of UWB technology – shows prospective use of positioning of objects without access to other positioning forms (ex. GPS) in many aspects of life such as currently developing renewable, green energy sources like wind turbines where the circular motion plays an important role, and precise positioning of propellers is a key element in monitoring the work of the whole wind turbine

    Analysis of Object Location Accuracy for iBeacon Technology based on the RSSI Path Loss Model and Fingerprint Map

    This paper presents analysis of object location accuracy of a mobile device on the basis of the iBeacon technology. The research starts with radio signal strength indicator analysis along the corridor in order to create a path loss model for iBeacon. Two cases are taken into account: line of sight and non-line of sight for model creation. For both cases two tests: Chi-square, Shapiro-Wilk have been performed. It has also been checked if the HCI (Host Controller Interface) is a source with a memory. Acquired data have been filtered with different type of filters, e.g. median, moving average and then compared. Next, the authors evaluated the indoor positioning trilateration algorithms with the use of created model for exemplary hall. The RSSI map (radiomap) was created and the logarithm propagation model was designed. The logarithmic model estimated distance with average error 1.09m for 1 – 9m and 1.75m for 1-20m and after trilateration, the positions with average error 2.45m was achieved. A statistical analysis for acquiring data led to the final conclusion which enhanced knowledge about positioning based on the popular iBeacon technology

    Comparison of 2.4 and 5 GHz WLAN network for purpose of indoor and outdoor location

    This paper presents comparison of prototype location system built with standard components of 2.4 and 5 GHz WLAN network infrastructure. The system can be used for personal or other objects’ positioning, both for indoor and outdoor environments. The system is local, i.e. its operational area is limited to WLAN network operating range. The system is based on standard and widely available WLAN components (access points, network adapters). The goal is to avoid any hardware and software modifications. Also position calculation should not be power hungry operation. Method of location is based in Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) returned by most of RF ICs (including WLAN). The main focus is research of how much accuracy (and usefulness) can be expected from standard WLAN hardware. Both static and dynamic scenarios have been tested and compared

    How Accurate Can UWB and Dead Reckoning Positioning Systems Be? Comparison to SLAM Using the RPLidar System

    This paper compares two positioning systems, namely ultra-wideband (UWB) based micro-location technology and dead reckoning and a RPLidar based simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) solution. This new approach can be used to improve the quality of the positioning system and increase the functionality of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). This is achieved by using stationary nodes and UWB tags on the vehicles. Thus, the redundancy of localization can be achieved by this approach, e.g., as a backup to onboard sensors like RPlidar or radar. Additionally, UWB based micro-location allows additional data channels to be used for communication purposes. Furthermore, it is shown that the regular use of correction data increases UWB and dead reckoning accuracy. These correction data can be based on onboard sensors. This shows that it is promising to develop a system that fuses onboard sensors and micro-localization for safety-critical tasks like the platooning of commercial vehicles. Document type: Articl

    Application of Neural Network for Testing selected specification parameters of Voltage-Controlled Oscillator

    In this paper, the application of the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) algorithm has been used for testing selected specification parameters of voltage-controlled oscillator. Today, mixed electronic circuits specification time is an issue. An analog part of Phase Locked Loop is a voltage-controlled oscillator, which is very sensitive to variation of the technology process. Fault model for the integrated circuit voltage control oscillator (VCO) in ring topology is introduced and the before test stage classificatory is designed. In order to reduce testing time and keep the specification accuracy (approximation) on the high level, an artificial neural network has been applied. The features selection process and output coding for specification parameters are described. A number of different ANN have been designed and then compared with real specification of the VCO. The results obtained gives response in short time with high enough accuracy

    Among a variety of problems with communication lines, the faults of surge protection modules in railway applications have a significant impact on the transmission line availability, especially if the devices are located in lightning-prone areas or other high-energy exposure areas, such as voltages or current changes. An advanced optimization of the surge protection module is proposed together with its verification, based on simulated waveforms for components and their limitations (e.g., power, peak power, maximum voltages, maximum currents, etc.). It allows for gathering information about the safety margin for each parameter of the components. This can be used to manage the probability of damage to the protection module. The authors have shown the power distribution during exposure that should be considered while developing new devices for railway transportation industry

    Short-term positioning accuracy based on mems sensors for smart city solutions

    The paper presents a method of obtaining short-term positioning accuracy based on micro electro-mechanical system (MEMS) sensors and analysis of the results. A high-accuracy and fast-positioning algorithm must be included due to the high risk of accidents in cities in the future, especially when autonomous objects are taken into account. High-level positioning systems should consider a number of sub-systems such as global positioning system (GPS), CCTV – video analysis, a system based on analysis of signal strength of access points (AP), etc. Short-term positioning means that there are other locating systems with a sufficiently high degree of accuracy based on, e.g. a video camera, but the located object can disappear when it is hidden by other objects, e.g. people, things, shelves etc. In such a case, MEMS sensors can be employed as a positioning system. The paper examines typical movement profiles of a radio-controlled (RC) model and fundamental filtering methods in respect of position accuracy. The authors evaluate the complexity and delay of the filter and the accuracy of the positioning in respect of the current speed and phase of movement (positive acceleration, constant) of the object. It is necessary to know whether and how the length of the filter changes the position accuracy. It has been shown that the use of fundamental filters, which provide solutions in a short time, enables to locate objects with a small error in a limited time

    Comparison of Filtering Methods for Enhanced Reliability of a Train Axle Counter System

    This paper presents signal filtering methods that can be effectively applied to train detection systems based on the axle counter systems that are currently in operation for train detection and provide information on the unoccupied status of railway tracks and turnouts. Signals from the wheel detectors contain noise, may be impulsive and time-varying, which means that even for the same train, the signals from the following wheels may be different. A problem appears when already homologated hardware (axle counter system) is working in a harsh environment, exposed to disturbances whose parameters significantly exceed standard thresholds. Despite this, the system must continue to provide reliable information. The authors present research on the application of such filters as median, Savitzkey-Golay, and moving average which can be implemented in the equipment currently in use under specific constraints (e.g., limited computational resources). The research results show that appropriately adjusted filters, for example, in terms of type and window size, increase the signal quality and thereby provide reliable information about passing trains, as well as enhance the availability and safety of the axle counter system performance
