¿Algunas mujeres ya no quieren ser madres? Cambios en las representaciones sociales de la maternidad en mujeres en edad fértil

El presente análisis indagó por las representaciones sociales de la maternidad entre mujeres en edad fértil, habitantes de Bogotá, estrato medio, con estudios universitarios y de posgrado. Asociado a ello, se identificaron las representaciones de la maternidad “heredadas” o incorporadas del medio social de origen, de sus madres, de otras mujeres; se determinaron los hitos en las experiencias de vida, sentimientos o prácticas que contribuyeron a dinamizar estas representaciones sociales desde la infancia hasta su juventud o adultez. También se señalaron los aspectos de sus capitales –educativos, sociales y económicos– decisivos en la construcción de las representaciones de la maternidad, así como elementos de otras esferas de su vida, como su ideal de mujer, proyecciones de futuro, entre otros, que intervinieron en su dinamización.Abstract. This analysis asked for the social representations of maternity amongst women of childbearing age, inhabitants of Bogota DC, of middle-income with university and post-graduate studies. In addition to the above, the representations of inherited maternity or those incorporated from the social communities of origin, their mothers or other women were identified. The milestones in their life experiences, feelings or practices that contributed to invigorate these social representations from childhood until youth or adult ages were also stated. Issues like their Educational, Social and Economic capital were a key factor to set the representations of maternity including other components of their life spheres like the ideal of woman, projections for the future among others that intervened in their concept of maternity.Maestrí
