Lapatynib w terapii rozsianego raka piersi
W artykule zaprezentowano przypadek pacjentki z nawrotowym,
hormonoopornym rakiem piersi, u której zastosowano ewerolimus z eksemestanem
w ramach terapii niestandardowej po dwóch liniach paliatywnej hormonoterapii (inhibitor
aromatazy i fulwestrant) i chemioterapii FAC (fluorouracyl, adriamycyna, cyklofosfamid).
Zastosowane leczenie zapewniło 24-miesięczny czas wolny od nawrotu choroby. Miejsce ewerolimusu w leczeniu zaawansowanego raka piersi w obecnej erze leczenia
klinicznych.Among females, breast cancer is across the world the most common malignancy. Currently,
the standard in the treatment of metastatic, hormone receptor-positive HER2-negative
breast cancer without visceral crisis, is hormonal therapy with cyclin-dependent kinase
4 and 6 (CDK 4/6) inhibitors. Everolimus, a rapamycin derivative, is not routinely used
in clinical practice but together with hormonal therapy it has been found to be an effective
treatment option. We present a patient with recurrent, hormone-resistant breast
cancer who was treated with everolimus with exemestane in beyond-standard therapy
after two lines of palliative hormonal therapy (aromatase inhibitor and fulvestrant) and chemotherapy FAC (fluorouracil, adriamycin, cyclophosphamide). This treatment provided
24-months of progression-free survival. The place of everolimus in the treatment of
advanced breast cancer in the era of CDK 4/6 inhibitors is being investigated in clinical
trials
Inhibitory PARP w terapii raka jajnika
Treatment of the malignant ovarian tumors remains challenging. Some of the reasons are as follows: lack of effective screening technique, usually asymptomatic early stages of the disease, which effects in detecting the disease in advanced stage, and eventually poor prognosis. Treatment of the relapse remains palliative. Inventing new drugs – like PARP inhibitors - gives hope for improvement of the treatment outcomes. This review paper presents actual knowledge on PARP inhibitors in the ovarian cancer therapy.
Novel systemic treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma: a step-by-step review of current indications
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common primary liver cancer and the main cause of cancer-related death worldwide. The available treatment options for HCC include liver transplant, locoregional therapy (such as ablation, embolization, and radiotherapy), and systemic treatment. The latter encompasses targeted therapy, immunotherapy, and angiogenesis inhibitors, alone or in combination. The introduction of immune checkpoint inhibitors and targeted drug therapy has been one of the most significant advances in HCC treatment. These therapies were shown to prolong overall survival and progression-free survival in clinical trials including patients with advanced HCC. In recent years, the systemic treatment of advanced HCC has vastly improved, with a median survival of 19.2 months in the IMbrave150 trial. However, further research is needed to determine the optimal sequence of treatment
