A KPI based study on the scope and quality of sustainability reporting by the DAX30 companies

This paper analyses the scope and the quality of the sustainability reporting of the DAX30 companies with the help of comparable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and a presentation of the general characteristics of the published reports with focus on the topics sustainability and sustainable actions. Whereas other recent studies have concentrated on more general information like the number of published reports, their frequency as well as the number of external audited reports, a research gap exists in the identification of the priorities and weighting of the sustainability perspectives within the communication to the companies' stakeholders. The empirical analysis suggests that the DAX30 companies recognize the increasing importance of sustainability in their communication with the stakeholders. Differences were found in the reporting of the companies' sustainable actions. Possible reasons for this could be the different importance attached to the topic within the companies and their surroundings, their business activities, the required information by their different stakeholders but also the degree of performance of sustainability.Die vorliegende Arbeit analysiert den Umfang und die Qualität der Nachhaltigkeitsberichterstattung der DAX30-Unternehmen mit Hilfe von definierten Key Performance Indicators (KPI) und stellt die allgemeinen Merkmale der veröffentlichten Berichte mit Fokus auf das Thema Nachhaltigkeit und nachhaltiges Handeln dar. Während sich andere Studien auf allgemeine Informationen wie die Anzahl der veröffentlichten Berichte, deren Veröffentlichungsfrequenz und die Anzahl der externen geprüften Berichte konzentrieren, wurde eine Lücke in der Identifizierung der Prioritäten und der Gewichtung der Nachhaltigkeitsperspektiven identifiziert und mit dieser Studie geschlossen. Die Ergebnisse der empirischen Analyse verdeutlichten, dass die DAX30-Unternehmen die zunehmende Bedeutung von Nachhaltigkeitsaspekten und deren Kommunikation mit den unterschiedlichen Interessensgruppen erkannt haben. Bei der Berichterstattung über das nachhaltige Handeln wurden erheblich Unterschiede identifiziert. Als Gründe hierfür können die unterschiedlichen Bedeutung des Themas im Unternehmen und in ihrer Umgebung, die Geschäftstätigkeit, die Differenz der geforderten Informationen durch die unterschiedlichen Interessensgruppen als auch die erbrachte Leistung im Bereich Nachhaltigkeit des Unternehmens herangezogen werden

Effects of Imperfections on Quantum Algorithms: A Software Engineering Perspective

Quantum computers promise considerable speedups over classical approaches, which has raised interest from many disciplines. Since any currently available implementations suffer from noise and imperfections, achieving concrete speedups for meaningful problem sizes remains a major challenge. Yet, imperfections and noise may remain present in quantum computing for a long while. Such limitations play no role in classical software computing, and software engineers are typically not well accustomed to considering such imperfections, albeit they substantially influence core properties of software and systems. In this paper, we show how to model imperfections with an approach tailored to (quantum) software engineers. We intuitively illustrate, using numerical simulations, how imperfections influence core properties of quantum algorithms on NISQ systems, and show possible options for tailoring future NISQ machines to improve system performance in a co-design approach. Our results are obtained from a software framework that we provide in form of an easy-to-use reproduction package. It does not require computer scientists to acquire deep physical knowledge on noise, yet provide tangible and intuitively accessible means of interpreting the influence of noise on common software quality and performance indicators

Kompetenzen im Nachhaltigkeitsmanagement

Vor dem Hintergrund der noch unzureichenden Verankerung von Fragen eines nachhaltigen Wirtschaftens in der kaufmännischen Lehrerbildung wird ein Blended Learning Konzept zur Förderung fachbezogener Kompetenzen im Nachhaltigkeitsmanagement mit Studierenden der Wirtschaftspädagogik sowie ausgebildeten Lehrkräften erprobt und evaluiert. Im theoretisch-konzeptuellen Teil der Arbeit erfolgt eine lernpsychologische und fachdidaktische Begründung der dem Aus- und Fortbildungsangebot zugrundeliegenden Konstruktionsprinzipien. Im empirischen Teil wird untersucht, wie die Teilnehmenden die Qualität des Angebots bewerten, welche Effekte auf ihre Kompetenzen erzielt werden und welche Faktoren den Lernerfolg erklären können. Die Wirksamkeit wird in Anlehnung an den Evaluationsansatz von Kirkpatrick (1998) bzw. Lipowsky (2010) im Rahmen eines experimentellen Forschungsdesigns mit zwei Untersuchungsgruppen und einer randomisierten Zuweisung der Studierenden als primäre Zielgruppe der Studie überprüft. Die Arbeit liefert einen innovativen Ansatz zur Förderung domänenspezifischer Nachhaltigkeitskompetenzen in der kaufmännischen Lehrerbildung und lässt evidenzbasierte Aussagen über die Wirksamkeit des Interventionsprogramms zu. Aus den Ergebnissen werden Vorschläge für die Weiterentwicklung des Konzepts und dessen Einsatz in der fachdidaktischen Ausbildung kaufmännischer Lehrkräfte abgeleitet

In-vitro-Effekte von SAHA, Tyrphostin AG 1478 und Carmustin an einem Panel von 18 pädiatrisch-onkologischen Zelllinien

Der Tyrosinkinase-Inhibitor Tyrphostin AG1478 und der Histondeacetylase-Inhibitor SAHA sind sogenannte "Target-specific-drugs". An 18 pädiatrisch-onkologischen Zelllinien wurde die In-vitro-Toxizität von SAHA, Tyrphostin und dem Alkylanz Carmustin getestet. Zusätzlich wurde die Wirkung der Kombination der genannten Substanzen überprüft. Die in dieser Arbeit gewonnenen Ergebnisse ergänzen den bisherigen Forschungsstand und tragen zur Klärung der teils widersprüchlichen wissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisse bei. Außerdem liefern sie für einige pädiatrische Entitäten die ersten Ergebnisse für SAHA und Tyrphostin überhaupt. Synergistische Effekte zeigten sich bei der Kombination von Carmustin und SAHA bei Medulloblastomen und bei der Kombination von Carmustin und Tyrphostin bei Leukämie- und Ewingsarkomzelllinien. Bei der Applikation der Monosubstanzen konnten keine herausragenden Signale für die Wirksamkeit bei einzelnen Tumorentitäten beobachtet werden

Measuring Focal Length Variations of VGOS Telescopes Using Unmanned Aerial Systems

VLBI radio telescopes are large technical\ua0facilities whose structures are aected by several\ua0deformation patterns. In particular, temperature- and\ua0gravity-dependent deformations bias the estimated\ua0global telescope position and, therefore, if uncorrected,\ua0deteriorate the geodetic results that can be derived from\ua0the geodetic VLBI analysis. The rigidity of a telescope\ua0structure under varying acting forces is restricted by\ua0its structural properties. Large conventional radio\ua0telescopes are more affected by deformation effects\ua0than the new compact-designed VGOS antennas. The\ua0design document for the next generation VLBI system\ua0(today called VGOS) states <300 \ub5m as requirement\ua0for the path length stability. A traceable metrological\ua0system that can be used to check this stability level\ua0must be at least three times better than the requirements.\ua0Close range photogrammetric methods fulfil\ua0these accuracy requirements but usually need a crane\ua0during the survey of a telescope. To avoid the latter,\ua0an unmanned aerial system was used for the first\ua0time to evaluate the possible deformation of the main\ua0reflector surface of the north-eastern of the Onsala\ua0twin telescopes (ONSA13NE). The focal length of the\ua0ring-focus paraboloid was derived in several elevation\ua0angles to study the gravitational deformation effects\ua0on the main reflector of this VGOS antenna
