The synthesis of aminophosphonic acid derivatives & related compounds
1-Aminoalkanephosphonic acids and their derivatives, have long been claimed to be compounds with a wide variety of application. Numerous examples exist where they have been described as: complex-forming agents with sequestrating properties, extractants, wetting agents, pharmaceutical preparations, ion exchangers, herbicides, compounds with plant growth regulatory activity; inhibitors of aminopeptidases; as structural units in peptide analogues, functioning as antibacterial agents, which inhibit bacterial cell wall biosynthesis; as structural units in peptidic phosphonylating agents that irreversibly inhibit a wide variety of serine proteases; as structural units in butyloxycarbonyl protected phosphonate esters that complex with alpha-lytic proteases; and as structural units in peptidyl phosphonate diphenyl 9 10 esters which powerfully inhibit the enzyme thrombin.

Concerns with AED conversion: comparison of patient and physician perspectives.
When discussing AED conversion in the clinic, both the patient and physician perspectives on the goals and risks of this change are important to consider. To identify patient-reported and clinician-perceived concerns, a panel of epilepsy specialists was questioned about the topics discussed with patients and the clinician's perspective of patient concerns. Findings of a literature review of articles that report patient-expressed concerns regarding their epilepsy and treatment were also reviewed. Results showed that the specialist panel appropriately identified patient-reported concerns of driving ability, medication cost, seizure control, and medication side effects. Additionally, patient-reported concerns of independence, employment issues, social stigma, medication dependence, and undesirable cognitive effects are important to address when considering and initiating AED conversion
Quasi-automorphisms of the infinite rooted 2-edge-coloured binary tree
We study the groupQV , the self-maps of the infinite 2-edge coloured binary tree which preserve the edge and colour relations at cofinitely many locations. We introduce related groups QF , QT , zQ T , and zQV , prove that QF , zQ T , and zQV are of type F1, and calculate finite presentations for them. We calculate the normal subgroup structure of all 5 groups, the Bieri-Neumann-Strebel-Renz invariants of QF , and discuss the relationship of all 5 groups with other generalisations of Thompson's groups.</p
