The role and impact of transport services during World Youth Day 2016

Many elements contribute to the shaping of atourist product. One of them is transport services. It does not only offer the possibility to reach acertain significant destination, but also to move around the target area. The topic of transport services supporting huge mass events, such as World Youth Days, is especially interesting. The essay presented the results of the research as well as provided an analysis and estimation to what extent expectations were met and the needs related to transport services during World Youth Day hosted by the city of Cracow were satisfied. The main aspect for the study was the idiosyncrasy of the transport service market, further on the issue of competitiveness between particular branches of transport was covered. The questions of the role and significance of transport services were raised, paying special attention to transport availability of acertain destination on the example of Cracow, based on the data collected during Youth Day held in 2016 as well as the Research on Tourist Movement within the City of Cracow in recent years

Methodological assumptions for benchmark analysis of airports

Porty lotnicze, będące jednym z elementów systemu transportu lotniczego, muszą sprostać coraz wyższym wymaganiom konkurencyjnym. Jedną z metod analitycznych stosowanych w celu wyodrębnienia czynników istotnie wpływających na kształtowanie się poziomu konkurencyjności portu lotniczego, a następnie umożliwiającą porównanie i pozy cjonowanie aktualnej pozycji konkurencyjnej jest benchmarking. W artykule podjęto rozważania na temat założeń metodologicznych analizy benchmarkingowej dotyczących portów lotniczych, w odniesieniu do głównych koncepcji i typologii dotyczącej benchmarkingu. Dokonano przeglądu stosowanych metod badawczych na rzecz portów lotniczych, a także wskazano potrzeby i oczekiwania względem tego typu badań na współczesnym rynku lotniczym.Airports, which constitute one of the vital components of the air transport system, have to meet increasingly sophisticated demands of competitiveness. One of the analytical methods used to isolate significant factors influencing the level of competitiveness of an airport is competitive benchmarking. The issue of the benchmarking of airports is a complex one that requires study and analysis. Benchmarking allows comparative studies of the effective use of airports' competitive potential. The article discusses methodological assumptions and typologies of benchmarking, as well as lists the needs and requirements of this type of research for the benefit of airports in the contemporary air transportation market

Science or practice? : pot's traninings of th tourism market

The purpose of the study is to provide an analysis of activities of organization such as the NTO in terms of increasing the competence and qualifications of staff in tourism industry in a broad sense. The article presents the different types of training activities undertaken by the POT and its regional equivalents (ROTs). The picture was supplemented by a description of the principal markets and areas to which these activities are directed. Preliminary issues concern theoretical assumptions with respect to forms and types of training from the perspective of the challenges of the knowledge-based economy. Subsequently, the review was made in order to identify types of training programs offered in the whole tourism industry. Training activities of the Polish Tourist Organisation for strengthening the competitive position of Poland as an attractive tourist destination were analysed in detail. The analysis was performed from the point of view of other operations conducted by the POT, especially research and scientific activity. The information gathered in this article illustrate the challenges that the tourism industry is facing in terms of training needs of staff, providing insight into the potential paths for further development.Цель исследования состоит в том, чтобы проанализировать деятельность НТО, с точки зрения повышения компетентности и квалификации персонала, трудоустроенного через туристическую отрасль. В статье представлены различные виды учебной деятельности, осуществляемой ПTОм и ее региональными партнерами (РТО), информация о которой дополнена описанием основных рынков и областей, к которым эти действия направлены. Предварительные размышления касаются теоретических оснований относительно форм и видов обучения с перспективы экономики, основанной на знаниях. За этим последовали исследования с целью распознавания типов предлагаемых учебных программ в туристической деятельности. Подробному анализу подвергнута подготовительная деятельность Польской Туристической Организации в цели повышения конкурентоспособности Польши, как страны привлекающей туристов. Анализ был сделан с точки зрения других мероприятий, проводимых ПОТом, а в частности научно-исследовательской деятельности. Информация, собранная в этой статье, иллюстрирует проблемы с которыми сталкивается туризм с точки зрения потребностей в подготовке кадров в индустрии туризма, давая представление о потенциальном пути развития
