Influence of sex, type of birth and rearing on daily gain of lambs
The objectives of this study were to evaluate the influence of sex, type of birth and rearing on average daily gain of landis and to determine correction factors or constants to be used to adjust average daily gain for differences in type of birth and rearing and sex
Mahim Bay: a polluted environment of Bombay
Distribution of the marine life in relation to the extent of pollution at and outside Mahim Bay was studied. A poor marine fauna at stations A and B was associated with a relatively high intensity of pollution accompanied by high BOD and nutrients and low DO levels. A distinct deterioration in the marine life and water quality along the northern part of the bay as compared to the southern part was evident. An increasing trend in the marine fauna with decreasing intensity of pollution from inside to outside the bay was noticed
End wall flows in rotors and stators of a single stage compressor
A computer code for solving the parabolized Navier-Stokes equations for internal flows was developed. Oscillations that develop in the calculation procedure are discussed. The measurements made in the hub and annulus wall boundary layers are summarized. The flow in the hub wall boundary layer, starting ahead of the inlet guide vanes to the inlet of the rotor is traced
The influence of magnesium and oxalic acid upon the absorption and retention of calcium and phosphorus
The present work was undertaken to study the effect of excess of magnesium and oxalic acid on calcium-phosphorus utilization, retention and excretion when added to a normal balanced ration fed to lambs
Free a-amino acid nitrogen content of the skeletal muscle of some marine fishes and invertebrates
In the course of an investigation of the nitrogenous
extractives of fresh fish muscle the
authors determined the a-amino acid nitrogen
content of the aqueous extracts of the skeletal
muscle in a number of marine fishes
Preservation of prawns in ice and the assessment of their quality by objective standards
Prawns and other crustaceans contribute about 15% of the total marine
fish landings in India. Our present annual production of prawns is over
100,000 tons, ranking next only to that of the U.S.A. Large quantities of
prawns are preserved by sundrying after previously boiling in salt solution
for the internal market as well as for export to Ceylon, Burma and Malaya.
A relatively small fraction is sent in ice to inland towns by rail or other conveyance.
In recent years a considerably valuable trade in export of frozen
prawns and lobsters to the U.S.A. has developed
Trade liberalization and digital divide : an analysis of the Information Technology Agreement of WTO
This article reflects on the effectiveness of trade liberalization, as
envisaged in the Information Technology Agreement (ITA) of the WTO,
for promoting ICT use and production in developing countries. Based
on empirical evidence on global exports of ITA goods, and the
performance of different groups of ITA member countries and nonmember
countries a case has been made for complementing trade
liberalization with capacity building so that ITA becomes more attractive
to developing countries as an additional strategy to bridge the digital
divide. It has also been argued that substantial capabilities in ICT
production and use have been developed over the years by select
developing countries, which provide fresh opportunities for new ICT
policy for social and economic development. Against this background
the article makes the case for an e-South Framework Agreement that
facilitates the harnessing of southern capabilities through building new
system of ICT innovation, as a complement to ongoing North-South
initiatives, inter alia involving trade liberalization along with capacity
building to promote ICT use and production in developing countries.
