Mechanical strain isolator mount
Certain devices such as optical instruments must preserve their alignmental integrity while being subjected to mechanical strain. A mechanical strain isolator mount is provided to preserve the alignmental integrity of an alignment sensitive instrument. An alignment sensitive instrument is mounted on a rectangular base. Flexural legs are connected at their proximal ends to the rectangular base. Flexural legs are also spaced parallel to the sides. Mounting pads are connected to the legs at the distal end and the mechanical strain isolator mount is attached to the substrate by means of threaded bolts. When a mounting pad and its respective leg is subjected to lateral strain in either the X or Y direction via the substrate, the respective leg relieves the strain by bending in the direction of the strain. An axial strain on a mounting pad in the Z direction is relieved by a rotational motion of the legs in the direction of the strain. When the substrate is stress free, the flexural legs return to their original condition and thus preserve the original alignment integrity of the alignment sensitive instrument

Polarized Double Photon Production in QCD to Order
We present a complete order analysis of the process with polarized initial states, previously studied by us with
leading order structure functions. We include in our calculation new sets of
parton densities evolved in NLO QCD, such as those of Gehrmann and Stirling and
of Gl\"{u}ck et al., which incorporate the new anomalous dimensions of Mertig
and Van Neerven in the evolution equation. A detailed phenomenological analysis
is also given which includes the photon isolation. Our results indicate that
the asymmetries, although not very large, should be substantial enough at RHIC
energies to be measurable in future planned experiments.Comment: 29 pages revtex, 13 psfig
Going Global
[Excerpt] What power can counter the growing strength of MNCs and the forces of globalization? National governments have an important role to play, singly and together, as do international institutions of regulation such as the European Commission, the World Trade Organization, and the International Labor Organization (ILO). Equally important, we would suggest, is the countervailing power of modernized labor movements working actively at local, national, and transnational levels. Further, we suggest that in the current era, the renewal of national and local labor movements may in fact depend greatly on increased coordination with the labor movements of other countries. Transnational collaboration will be—and should be—an increasingly important feature of tomorrow\u27s global economy
