Immunohistochemistry Applied to Breast Cytological Material

© 2022 S. Karger AG, Basel.Fine-needle aspiration biopsies (FNABs) of the breast are minimally invasive procedures enabling the diagnosis of suspicious breast lesions. Unfortunately, they are often perceived as inferior to core-needle biopsies, namely because they are supposedly unable to differentiate between high-grade ductal carcinoma in situ and invasive carcinoma or provide material for ancillary testing. Several studies have shown, however, that FNAB samples, when handled properly, are indeed capable of providing sufficient and adequate material for ancillary testing, namely immunocytochemistry (ICC). We reviewed the published literature regarding the use of ICC for both diagnostic and theranostic uses in the different types of cytological samples obtained from FNABs of the breast, including smears, liquid-based cytology samples, and cellblocks. We found that p63 and 34βE12 show promise in aiding in the differential diagnosis between in situ and invasive lesions and that most other diagnostic markers may be used as in tissue. Regarding theranostic ICC markers, results vary between publications, but with care, these can successfully be performed in cytological samples. Air-dried smears should be avoided, and cellblocks are overall more versatile than cytology slides, enabling the evaluation of not only hormonal receptors and HER2 by ICC, but also of Ki-67. Particular attention should be paid to fixation and antigen retrieval procedures in all cases. We recommend that laboratories without experience perform short validation runs before adopting these techniques into clinical practice.publishersversionpublishe

Essa obra desenvolve-se no formato de documentário direto, cuja entrevista com o protagonista é intercalada com imagens de arquivo e outros materiais de cobertura durante a pesquisa. A proposta é abordar parte de sua história como jogador e ser humano estigmatizado como reserva de um dos grandes ídolos do futebol brasileiro da época. A ideia é mostrar um lado pouco explorado na mídia, dando voz a coadjuvantes do esporte, porém indivíduos relevantes em suas comunidades

Sistema de Informação como suporte ao Sistema de Gestão da Qualidade

Discovering Badges

A evolução tecnológica da última década generalizou o uso da internet para a substituição ou complemento de múltiplos processos de aprendizagem, formais ou informais, e evidenciou novas perspetivas para o desenvolvimento de soluções com altos níveis de disponibilidade, escalabilidade e flexibilidade. Por outro lado, a certificação de conhecimentos e competências não mais está confinada a certas instituições ou universidades, quebrou as barreiras físicas e difundiu-se pelo mundo da internet ao ponto de se falar em certificação digital de competências. No contexto dos Open Badges esta generalização levou à necessidade da existência de mecanismos que permitam aos seus utilizadores o acesso a informação personalizada e relevante. Nesse sentido, foi realizado um estudo aprofundado e avaliadas as diferentes perspetivas e abordagens aos problemas existentes do ecossistema dos Open Badges, mais concretamente na descoberta de oportunidades de experiências de aprendizagem. Após investigação, foi introduzido o standard xAPI e a sua potencial associação com os Open Badges. Essa associação revelou-se a base para o desenho, conceção e implementação de uma solução que se revelou adequada ao problema proposto. É proposta uma arquitetura por microserviços com componentes independentes e reutilizáveis, salientando-se ainda o suporte total a integração com sistemas externos com vista ao grande objetivo do projeto, a interoperabilidade. Os testes efetuados à aplicação e a avaliação da solução permitem afirmar o resultado deste projeto como um contributo científico e técnico relevante para a área deste trabalho de mestrado.The technological developments of the past decade widespread the use of the Internet for the replacement or addition of multiple learning processes, formal or informal, and highlighted new perspectives for the development of solutions with high levels of availability, scalability and flexibility. On the other hand, the certification of knowledge and skills is no longer confined to certain institutions or universities, breaking the physical barriers and spreading throughout the world of the Internet to the point of talking about digital competences certification. In the Open Badges context, this generalization led to the need of mechanisms that allow their users access to personalized and relevant information. Having this has our focus, it was conducted a serious study and evaluated the different perspectives and approaches to the problems of the Open Badges ecosystem, specifically the discovery. After the investigation, the standard xApi and its potential association with the Open Badges was introduced. This combination proved to be the basis for the design and implementation of a suitable response to the problem. The proposed architecture was a microservices architecture with independente and reusable componentes, with fully external systems integration capability for the ultimate goal of the project, interoperability. The tests performed on the implementation and evaluation of the solution allow us to state the outcome of this project as a scientific contribution and relevant technical to the area of this master's work

uTango: an open-source TEE for IoT devices

Security is one of the main challenges of the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT devices are mainly powered by low-cost microcontrollers (MCUs) that typically lack basic hardware security mechanisms to separate security-critical applications from less critical components. Recently, Arm has started to release Cortex-M MCUs enhanced with TrustZone technology (i.e., TrustZone-M), a system-wide security solution aiming at providing robust protection for IoT devices. Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) relying on TrustZone hardware have been perceived as safe havens for securing mobile devices. However, for the past few years, considerable effort has gone into unveiling hundreds of vulnerabilities and proposing a collection of relevant defense techniques to address several issues. While new TEE solutions built on TrustZone-M start flourishing, the lessons gathered from the research community appear to be falling short, as these new systems are trapping into the same pitfalls of the past. In this paper, we present UTANGO, the first multi-world TEE for modern IoT devices. UTANGO proposes a novel architecture aiming at tackling the major architectural deficiencies currently affecting TrustZone(-M)-assisted TEEs. In particular, we leverage the very same TrustZone hardware primitives used by dual-world implementations to create multiple and equally secure execution environments within the normal world. We demonstrate the benefits of UTANGO by conducting an extensive evaluation on a real TrustZone-M hardware platform, i.e., Arm Musca-B1. This paper introduces a proposal for a Proof Carrying Code (PCC) architecture called Lissom. Started as a challenge for final year Computing students, Lissom was thought as a mean to prove to a sceptic community, and in particular to students, that formal verification tools can be put to practice in a realistic environment, and be used to solve complex and concrete problems. Os ganhos operacionais, a economia de custos e a reinvenção de processos são alguns dos fatores-chave que contribuirão para a adoção deste novo paradigma. Atentos a este mercado, os operadores de telecomunicações multiplicam-se atualmente em iniciativas e estratégias para se posicionarem de forma mais abrangente na cadeira de valor, com o objectivo de suportar novos serviços diferenciadores que vão muito para além da simples disponibilização de conectividade. Este artigo visa a apresentação da arquitetura de uma plataforma horizontal de criação e disponibilização de serviços M2M, definida tendo por base os objetivos dos projetos Apollo e IoT.est, colmatando o fosso existente entre os diversos serviços e a heterogeneidade de redes e dispositivos, estimulando assim a criação de novos negócios
