Entanglement measurement of the quadrature components without the homodyne detection in the spatially multi-mode far-field

We consider the measuring procedure that in principle allows to avoid the homodyne detection for the simultaneous selection of both quadrature components in the far-field. The scheme is based on the use of the coherent sources of the non-classical light. The possibilities of the procedure are illustrated on the basis of the use of pixellised sources, where the phase-locked sub-Poissonian lasers or the degenerate optical parametric oscillator generating above threshold are chosen as the pixels. The theory of the pixellised source of the spatio-temporal squeezed light is elaborated as a part of this investigation.Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures, RevTeX4. Submitted to Phys. Rev.

Quantum state of an injected TROPO above threshold : purity, Glauber function and photon number distribution

In this paper we investigate several properties of the full signal-idler-pump mode quantum state generated by a triply resonant non-degenerate Optical Parametric Oscillator operating above threshold, with an injected wave on the signal and idler modes in order to lock the phase diffusion process. We determine and discuss the spectral purity of this state, which turns out not to be always equal to 1 even though the three interacting modes have been taken into account at the quantum level. We have seen that the purity is essentially dependent on the weak intensity of the injected light and on an asymmetry of the synchronization. We then derive the expression of its total three-mode Glauber P-function, and calculate the joint signal-idler photon number probability distribution and investigate their dependence on the injection

Use of open electronic courses in educational activity

The use of open electronic courses is a relatively new tendency in education and it is not yet fully discovered by researchers. With its introduction a change in the structure of the educational system happens. Therefore, the article studies the specifics of the introduction of online courses, including requirements to them, as well as factors that slow down their active development. Due to it, the following methods of investigation were used as: analysis, synthesis, deduction, induction. As an example, Kozma Minin Nizhny Novgorod State Pedagogical University - Minin University was used. Based on the study of the "Regulations on the use of open courses in the educational activities of Minin University", it was noted, in addition to the functions of the coordination group on open education, that for the trainee at the end of the course, in the case of unsatisfactory result, the possibility of the recalculation is established. This paragraph is used not by every university. In the article we make a conclusion that open courses are a new qualitative step in the development of world education, but online courses would be much more effective as narrow-minded, adult-oriented, and deeply motivated for learning. Taken as the basis of research, Minin University showed that the university is ready for the implementation of online courses. Accelerated cross-linking technique using a protective corneal donor flap in the treatment of progressive keratoconus on «thin» corneas

Purpose. To develop a method of accelerated ultraviolet crosslinking with an initial corneal thickness equal to or less than 400 microns using a protective donor corneal flap. Definition of safety and effectiveness of this method in the treatment of progressive keratoconus.Material and methods. 20 patients (20 eyes) with a diagnosis of progressive keratoconus 2–3 stages were included in the study. The accelerated crosslinking was carried out with an IROC-VX-2000 device (Switzerland). A protective donor corneal flap was cut out by using a Femto LDV Z8 femtosecond laser («Ziemer», Switzerland). The thickness of the protective flap of the donor cornea was determined as the difference between 450 μm and the obtained value of the patient’s pachymetry in 30 minutes of saturation with Dextralink in μm.Results. Indicators of uncorrected visual acuity and corrected visual acuity returned to the level of preoperative values and did not tend to decrease until the end of the observation period for 6 months. The average keratometry indices gradually decreased: after 3 months – 50.3±1.5 μm, after 6 months – 48.9±1.8 μm, by 12 months – 46.7±2.1 μm. A decrease in elevation indicators of the anterior and posterior surfaces was marked on elevation maps throughout the observation period.Conclusion. The proposed ultraviolet crosslinking technique using a protective donor corneal flap in patients with corneal thickness 400 μm or less is reproducible. This technique proves its effectiveness and safety and allows to stabilize the condition in patients with progressive keratoconus with adequate visual function. This makes this technique necessary, taking into account the lack of adequate cross-linking technology with a thin cornea

Experience in the use of docosahexaenoic acid (BrudiPlus) in patients with increased sperm DNA fragmentation index in Acad. V.I. Kulakov Research Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology

Male factor is the reason of infertility in almost half of marriages. Infertile men have the percentage of sperm with violations of DNA integrity of over 30 %; with that, healthy fertile men have that indicator of less than 15 %. Understanding of importance of damages of sperm DNA is growing with distribution ofauxiliary reproductive technologies. As of today, these consequences have not been studies yet, and the therapeutic effect of intake of antioxidants has not direct correlation with the sperm DNA fragmentation level. Docosahexaenoic acid is one of the most valuable omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids for human health. Docosahexaenoic acid is the main component of the brain gray matter, retina, testes, and sperm cell membranes. In connection with that, a study was held the purpose of which was to assess the effect of the nutraceutical enzymatic docosahexaenoic acid triglyceride (BrudiPlus) in high concentrations on damaged sperm DNA of patients with idiopathic pathozoospermia. 40 patients with idiopathic pathozoospermia and the level of DNA fragmentation over the statutory value took part in this study.
