Background Early recognition of right ventricular (RV) failure in patients with chronic lung diseases is still challenging. In this regard, the study of RV diastolic function as an early marker of subclinical RV dysfunction is of significant practical interest. Objective We sought to evaluate the influence of chronic lung pathology and age on the RV relaxation properties and to identify the criteria for differential diagnosis of age-related changes in RV diastolic function and increased myocardial stiffness in case of chronic lung disease.Material and Methods This was a study of 80 patients aged 31 to 68 (40 patients with chronic lung  pathology and 40 healthy controls) being treated at the Research Institute – Ochapovsky Regional Hospital no. 1. All subjects underwent echocardiography with transtricuspidal and transmitral blood flow assessment and spectral tissue Doppler of the mitral and tricuspid annuli. Results 32 (80%) patients with lung disease demonstrated RV diastolic dysfunction. Of them, 18 (81%) patients are older than 60 years, and 14 (78%) patients are younger than 60 years. The indicators of RV filling were significantly lower compared to the control group not only in older patients but also in patients < 60.Conclusion The majority of patients with chronic lung pathology exhibited impaired RV diastolic function. The RV diastolic function was detected more often in older patients, but it also occurred in patients of the middle age group. Thus, we arrive at the conclusion that the RV myocardial stiffness is being increased in the  case of chronic lung diseases

The paper presents a method for the parallel optimization of the structure of sown areas for calculating economic and mathematical models for the traditional and organic-oriented land use systems characterized by the introduction of an additional set of environmental criteria constraints. Based on the proposed methodology, an economic-mathematical model has been calculated and the effectiveness of the functioning of the Altai Foothills zonal agroecocluster has been proved. Considering the full involvement in the agricultural production turnover of land suitable to produce organic products, the level of profitability was 39.7% against 17.3% in case of optimizing the structure of the sown areas in the traditional system of agricultural production.peer-reviewe

Review of methodological approaches to quality evaluation of recombinant interferon products

    No full text
The article summarises methods used to control the quality of recombinant interferon alpha and beta (IFNs) products. It demonstrates that currently used methodological approaches generally ensure proper quality control of this group of medicines. However, it is necessary to formulate basic requirements for the pharmacopoeial general chapters on interferon alpha-2 and beta-1 products in order to standardize the control procedures and increase the efficacy and safety of recombinant IFNs products. These requirements should be harmonized with requirements of both the European Pharmacopeia and pharmacopoeias of the Eurasian Economic Union member-states, and should take account of the current trends in the Russian pharmaceutical industry

Human lipoxygenase isoforms form complex patterns of double and triple oxygenated compounds from eicosapentaenoic acid

Lipoxygenases (ALOX) are lipid peroxidizing enzymes that catalyze the biosynthesis of pro- and anti-inflammatory lipid mediators and have been implicated in (patho-)physiological processes. In humans, six functional ALOX isoforms exist and their arachidonic acid oxygenation products have been characterized. Products include leukotrienes and lipoxins which are involved in the regulation of inflammation and resolution. Oxygenation of n3-polyunsaturated fatty acids gives rise to specialized pro-resolving mediators, e.g. resolvins. However, the catalytic activity of different ALOX isoforms can lead to a multitude of potentially bioactive products. Here, we characterized the patterns of oxygenation products formed by human recombinant ALOX5, ALOX15, ALOX15B and ALOX12 from eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and its 18-hydroxy derivative 18-HEPE with particular emphasis on double and triple oxygenation products. ALOX15 and ALOX5 formed a complex mixture of various double oxygenation products from EPA, which include 5,15-diHEPE and various 8,15-diHEPE isomers. Their biosynthetic mechanisms were explored using heavy oxygen isotopes (H(2)(18)O, (18)O(2) gas) and three catalytic activities contributed to product formation: i) fatty acid oxygenase activity, ii) leukotriene synthase activity, iii) lipohydroperoxidase activity. For ALOX15B and ALOX12 more specific product patterns were identified, which was also the case when these enzymes reacted in concert with ALOX5. Several double oxygenated compounds were formed from 18-HEPE by ALOX5, ALOX15B and ALOX12 including previously identified resolvins (RvE2, RvE3), while formation of triple oxygenation products, e.g. 5,17,18-triHEPE, required ALOX5. Taken together our data show that EPA can be converted by human ALOX isoforms to a large number of secondary oxygenation products, which might exhibit bioactivity
