W artykule dokonano analizy politycznej użyteczności terminów „mafia”, „zorganizowana grupa przestępcza”, „przestępczość zorganizowana”. Ukazano jak swobodne posługiwanie się odmiennymi znaczeniowo pojęciami pozwala politykom wytwarzać i kontrolować obraz rzeczywistości. Zaprezentowano, w jaki sposób wpływanie na sposób pojmowania zjawiska poprzez hołdowanie tendencyjnym uproszczeniom prowadzi do formułowania równie uproszczonych propozycji zwalczania jego przejawów, w konsekwencji skutkując utrzymywaniem status quo

Solar Photocatalytic Degradation of Sulfamethoxazole by TiO2_{2} Modified with Noble Metals

Application of solar photocatalysis for water treatment is intensively studied. In this work, we investigated TiO2 modified with platinum (Pt/TiO2) and palladium (Pd/TiO2) using sulfamethoxazole (SMX) as the model contaminant. We considered the following parameters: (i) level of TiO2 modification with Pt/Pd, (ii) initial concentration of photocatalysts, (iii) geographic location where processes were conducted, and (iv) natural water matrix. The catalysts characterized by SEM, EDX, DRS, and XRD techniques showed successful deposition of Pd and Pt atoms on TiO2 surface that enabled light absorption in the visible (Vis) range, and therefore caused efficient SMX removal in all tested conditions. A comparison of the rate constants of SMX degradation in various conditions revealed that modification with Pd gave better results than modification with Pt, which was explained by the better optical properties of Pd/TiO2. The removal of SMX was higher with Pd/TiO2 than with Pt/TiO2, independent of the modification level. In the experiments with the same modification level, similar rate constants were achieved when four times the lower concentration of Pd/TiO2 was used as compared with Pt/TiO2. Formation of four SMX transformation products was confirmed, in which both amine groups are involved in photocatalytic oxidation. No toxic effect of post-reaction solutions towards Lepidium sativum was observed

Photodegradation of 2,4-Dichlorophenol in Aqueous Systems under Simulated and Natural Sunlight

The work presents results of studies on 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP) degradation in aqueous solutions using photochemically initiated processes by simulated and natural sunlight. A number of possible substrate photodegradation routes were investigated, by both direct photolysis and photosensitized oxidation process. The major role of singlet oxygen in 2,4-DCP photodegradation was proved. Rose Bengal and derivatives of porphine and phthalocyanine were used as sensitizers. The influences of various process parameters on the reaction rate were investigated. On the basis of experimental data reaction rate constants of 2,4-DCP photosensitized oxidation were determined. The possibility of using natural sunlight to degrade 2,4-DCP in water in the middle latitudes was stated. The acute toxicity bioassay was conducted with the marine bacterium Vibrio fischeri as a bioluminescent indicator. The obtained results encourage further research on this process

This thesis investigates the relationship between personality types and organizational culture as measured by job satisfaction. By using questionnaires, the Big-Five Personality Dimensions, and secondary research I will examine intricacies of the person-organization fit. Having a misalignment would result in decreased employee performance and increased employee turnover. Employee turnover harms an organization financially, as the costs of hiring an employee from recruitment to the recruitment of a replacement summate to thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars. This information would be meaningful by serving as an extra level of screening during the hiring process to acquire the best candidates who will be the most satisfied with their jobs, ultimately decreasing employee turnover and benefiting both the employee and the company. Pierwotny i wtórny kontekst „polityczności” jako determinant „niepolityczności”, „apolityczności”, „metapolityczności” i upolitycznienia

W artykule dokonano analizy kategorii polityczności, określając różnicę między politycznością w kontekście pierwotnym a wtórnym. Ukazano, że polityczność jest cechą aspektową, która stanowi jeden z wymiarów danego zjawiska, lecz nie jest właściwością jedyną, wyłączną lub główną, ma bowiem charakter relacyjny lub kontekstowy, a przy tym syndromatyczny. Dzięki temu wskazano, w jaki sposób polityczność egzystencji ludzkiej, stosunków społecznych i dążeń ludzkich kształtuje polityczność w sensie politologiczno-prawnym, ta zaś współkształtuje niepolityczność i apolityczność oraz kształtuje zakres tego, co może być upolitycznione. W tekście wykazano, że założenie o rzekomej apolityczności instytucji i służb państwowych wikła nas w antynomię i przesunięcie kategorialne (apolityczność błędnie utożsamiana z bezstronnością i niezależnością w grze politycznej). Wprowadzono zatem do siatki pojęciowej określenie „instytucje metapolityczne”
