Searching Doubly Charged Leptons at Present and Future Colliders

The production at the LHC of exotic excited leptons of charge Q=+2eQ = +2e is considered. Such states are predicted in composite models with extended isospin multiplets (IW=1I_{W}=1 and IW=3/2I_{W}=3/2). The coupling among these doubly charged leptons and Standard Model fermions may occurs either via gauge or contact interactions. In the former case the decay channels are more constrained. We study the production cross section at the LHC of L++L^{++} (ppL++pp \rightarrow L^{++} \, \ell^{-}) and focus on the leptonic signature deriving from the subsequent decays $L^{++} \rightarrow W^{+} \ell^{+} \rightarrow \ell^{+} \ \ell^{+} \, \nu_l .Theinvariantmassdistributionofthelikesigndileptonexhibitsasharpendpointcorrespondingtoexciteddoublychargedleptonmass. The invariant mass distribution of the like-sign dilepton exhibits a sharp end-point corresponding to excited doubly charged lepton mass m^{*}.Apreliminarystudyfortheproductionofdoublychargedleptonsatthefuturelinearcolliders,byconsideringtheprocess. A preliminary study for the production of doubly charged leptons at the future linear colliders, by considering the process e^{-} e^{-} \rightarrow L_{e}^{--} \, \nu_{e}$, is carried out. Both the contact and gauge interaction mechanisms are investigated and compared.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, submitted as a proceeding for the LC13 Conference (ECT*, Trento), updated bibliograph

Variazione lessicale in Dongxiang: uno studio sociolessicografico

Prescription Appropriateness of Drugs for Peptic Ulcer and Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease: Baseline Assessment in the LAPTOP-PPI Cluster Randomized Trial

Background: Drugs for peptic ulcer and gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD) are among the most widely prescribed, frequently without appropriate indications. This represents an important issue, as it leads to risk of adverse events for patients and unnecessary costs for National Health Service. Aim: To assess the prescription appropriateness of drugs for GERD, in the frame of the "Evaluation of the effectiveness of a Low-cost informative intervention to improve the Appropriate PrescripTiOn of Proton PumP Inhibitors in older people in primary care: a cluster-randomized controlled study" (LAPTOP-PPI) (Clinicaltrial.gov: NCT04637750). Methods: The appropriateness of drug prescription was assessed on data collected in administrative databases, by integrating information on concomitant medications, outpatient medical and laboratory procedures and hospital discharge diagnoses, according to the reimbursement criteria provided by the Italian Medicine Agency. We analyzed data of community-dwelling people aged 65 years and over, living in the areas of Bergamo (Northern Italy) and Caserta (Southern Italy), from July 1 to 31 December 2019. Results: Among 380,218 patients, 175,342 (46.1%) received at least one prescription of drugs for GERD. All in all, we found that only 41.2% of patients received appropriate prescriptions. Conclusion: Given the potential risk of adverse drug reactions, especially in older people, educational interventions should be prompted for physicians, in order to improve the quality of prescription of drugs for GERD and, in turn, avoid unfavorable health outcomes and unnecessary costs

Sustainable valorisation of biowaste for soilless cultivation of salvia officinalis in a circular bioeconomy

The aim of this work is to assess the usefulness of biowaste deriving from Circular Bioeconomy (CBE) processes (i.e.,vermicompost, compost and digestate), as growing substrates for the partial or total replacement of peat, by measuring the vegetation biometric parameters of sage (Salvia officinalisL.)—leaf area; Soil Plant Analysis Development (SPAD) value (index of chlorophyll concentration); fresh and dry weight ofleaves; stem weight; root length. The results showed that vermicompost positively influenced most of above parameters (+16.7% for leaf area, +7.3% for fresh leaf weight, +6.4% for dry leaf weight, +8.5% for fresh stem weight, +0.9% for dry stem weight, +16% for root length) and, therefore, can be used as a sustainable growing substrate, alternative to peat, for the sage soilless cultivation. Yet, the results of some biometric parameters are better with peat rather than with compost (—7.2% for SPAD value,—47.3% for fresh leaf weight,—46.8% for dry leaf weight,—32.9% for fresh stem weight,—39.1% for dry stem weight,—52.4% for fresh root weight,—56.6% for dry root weight) and digestate (—30.2% for fresh leaf weight,—33.6% for dry leaf weight,—23.9% for fresh stem weight,—27% for dry stem weight,—51.8% for fresh root weight,—34.4% for dry root weight,—16% for root length). Therefore, these results are interesting for potted plants in nursery activity, while the above differences must be verified also after the transplanting of the testedplants in open field. However, the use of all the above growing substrates alternative to peat allows the sustainable valorization of food industry by-products, plant biomass, animal manure and the Organic Fraction of Municipal Solid Waste (OFMSW)
