26 p.En las siguientes páginas intentaremos reconstruir los inicios del Instituto Indigenista Interamericano, desde su creación en el Primer Congreso Indigenista Interamericano (abril 1940) hasta su constitución formal definitiva (marzo 1942), con el objetivo de aclarar en qué circunstancias se dio su fundación y cuál fue el camino seguido, durante la etapa de formación, hacia su organización sobre bases permanentes. De la ciudad “mestiza” al campo “indígena”: internados indígenas en el México posrevolucionario y en Bolivia

This article examines Indian boarding schools in postrevolutionary Mexico and Bolivia, considering similarities in their removal from city to countryside, but also the very specific way each national elite discussed Indian education. It also focuses on relationships between Mexican and Bolivian educators, and their views on the other country’s experience in the field. As the analysis suggests, these experiences and debates are quite revealing of widespread ideas about the city (modern and civilized) and the countryside (primitive and backward), and about the countryside as the Indian natural proper place.El artículo estudia los internados indígenas en el México posrevolucionario y en Bolivia, considerando las similitudes en sus desplazamientos desde la ciudad al campo y las formas específicas en que cada elite nacional discutía acerca de la educación indígena. Examina también las relaciones entre educadores mexicanos y bolivianos, y sus visiones de la experiencia del otro país. El análisis sugiere que estas experiencias y debates resultan reveladores de ideas comunes acerca de la ciudad (moderna y civilizada) frente al campo (primitivo y atrasado), así como de la idea del campo como el lugar natural y apropiado para el indígena

Until recently, indigenismo has been understood in a self-referential context and was not the subject of academic study, but now it is back on the front burner. A significant amount of research is currently in progress, moving a step forward in the knowledge and better understanding of this complex political, economic, and cultural phenomenon. Entre «política indigenista española» e «indigenismo desorbitado»: el Anuario de Estudios Americanos y la «otra revista» de Sevilla

The author analyzes the presence and meanings of indigenismo in Anuario de Estudios Americanos from 1944 to 1996 and in the other journal published in Seville (1948-1961), Estudios Americanos. Revista de Síntesis e Interpretación, aiming to especially highlight the Spanish view of the indigenista movement in its golden age, in the mid-twentieth century. Two starkly different images of indigenismo emerged, depending on the association with the Spanish policy in America or on the association with the contemporary movement, with a clear leading role in each case of one or the other of the two journals.La autora analiza la presencia y los significados de «indigenismo» y sus significados en la revista Anuario de Estudios Americanos entre los años 1944 y 1996 y en la otra revista publicada en Sevilla, Estudios Americanos. Revista de Síntesis e Interpretación (1948-1961), como medio de calibrar la visión que se tuvo en España del movimiento indigenista en su edad de oro, a mediados del siglo XX. El análisis permite perfilar claramente dos diferentes imágenes del indigenismo, dependiendo de su asociación con la política española en América o con el movimiento contemporáneo, según una repartición bastante clara del papel protagónico que en cada caso jugaron las dos revistas sevillanas

Non–Parametric Estimation of Mutual Information through the Entropy of the Linkage

A new, non–parametric and binless estimator for the mutual information of a d–dimensional random vector is proposed. First of all, an equation that links the mutual information to the entropy of a suitable random vector with uniformly distributed components is deduced. When d = 2 this equation reduces to the well known connection between mutual information and entropy of the copula function associated to the original random variables. Hence, the problem of estimating the mutual information of the original random vector is reduced to the estimation of the entropy of a random vector obtained through a multidimensional transformation. The estimator we propose is a two–step method: first estimate the transformation and obtain the transformed sample, then estimate its entropy. The properties of the new estimator are discussed through simulation examples and its performances are compared to those of the best estimators in the literature. The precision of the estimator converges to values of the same order of magnitude of the best estimator tested. However, the new estimator is unbiased even for larger dimensions and smaller sample sizes, while the other tested estimators show a bias in these cases

Las intervenciones económicas estatales sobre el Grupo Mackentor durante el Terrorismo de Estado

The last Argentine civic-military dictatorship modified the state apparatus and transformed the pro­ductive structure of the country based on an ad hoc legislative configuration with which it legitimized, among other things, a new model of accumulation. The link between State and businessmen was transcendental for the guidelines of an economic policy based on the financialization of the economy and the speculative circuit, the reorganization of the business leadership and the intervention of companies or their displacement from the new economic scenario. In this line, this work analyzes the different state economic interventions carried out by various governmental and judicial entities on the Cordovan business Group Mackentor between 1976 and 1983. For this, it investigates the articulation between the regulations regarding "economic subversion", state economic interventions on companies, which led to their displacement from the market, and the business in­terests at stake.La última dictadura cívico militar argentina modificó el aparato estatal y transformó la estructura productiva del país a partir de una configuración legislativa ad hoc con la que legitimó, entre otras cosas, un nuevo modelo de acumulación. El vínculo entre el Estado y los empresarios fue trascendental para el linea­miento de una política económica basada en la financiarización de la economía y el circuito especulativo, el reordenamiento de la cúpula empresaria y la intervención de empresas o su desplazamiento del nuevo escenario económico. En esta línea, este trabajo analiza las distintas intervenciones económicas estatales realizadas por diversos entes gubernamentales y judiciales sobre el Grupo empresarial cordobés Mackentor entre 1976 y 1983.
