    Ion sources at GANIL

    Get PDF
International audienceThe GANIL produces since many years heavy ion beams with Electron Cyclotron Resonance ion sources. Different facilities have been constructed during the last years in order to allow experiments in a large range of energy (from some tens of kV to 100 MeV/nucleon). The list of available ions has been greatly extended with the construction of the SPIRAL1 facility that produces and accelerates radioactives ions . An overview of the different developments made at GANIL for stable and radioactive ion beam production including the sources for the SPIRAL2 project is given in this paper

Stereoscopic measurement of free surface flows

    No full text
The present paper adresses the problem of combined three-dimensionnal measurements of shape and velocity of moving free surfaces. A measurement method based on the cross-correlation of image pairs obtained from a calibrated stereoscopic vision system is presented. The underlying concept of the method consists in the generation of parametric shape and displacement forms which are directly projected on the camera models. This procedure is then integrated in an iterative optimization process so that elevation, orientation, curvature and displacement of each surface subset are accurately estimated. Application is made on inclined plane flows of complex non-Newtonian fluids as an alternative to conventionnal rheometric devices

    RNB production at SPIRAL/GANIL

International audienceWe present the on-line production system and tests for the Phase-I of SPIRAL/GANIL (Radioactive Ion Production System with Acceleration on-Line) where exotic multicharged noble gas ion beams have been obtained with the ECRIS (Electron Cyclotron Resonance Ion Source) NANOGAN-III. A new ECRIS (MONO1000) for monocharged radioactive ions is also presented, together with the diffusion properties of different graphite targets for He and Ar isotopes

Efficiency and production yield measurements of radioactive O, N, and F for the SPIRAL facility

    No full text
International audienceProduction efficiencies of radioactive oxygen and nitrogen beams for the SPIRAL targetsourcesystem, measured at GANIL on the SIRa test bench, are presented. From the overallefficiency of oxygen, the product between the efficiency of transformation of O into CO and theeffusion of CO from the target to the ion source, was deduced. The production yieldmeasurements of oxygen and nitrogen isotopes performed on the SIRa test bench and those offluorine directly measured on the SPIRAL facility are presented
