    The main purpose of this research is to suggest policies to improve the foreign direct investment attraction capacity in Northern Mountainous Provinces of Vietnam in short and medium-term. Though this region has huge potentials to develop, but poor infrastructure, remote location and bad FDI climate have hindered the FDI inflows.     Multiple-Tree Push-based Overlay Streaming

    Multiple-Tree Overlay Streaming has attracted a great amount of attention from researchers in the past years. Multiple-tree streaming is a promising alternative to single-tree streaming in terms of node dynamics and load balancing, among others, which in turn addresses the perceived video quality by the streaming user on node dynamics or when heterogeneous nodes join the network. This article presents a comprehensive survey of the different aproaches and techniques used in this research area. In this paper we identify node-disjointness as the property most approaches aim to achieve. We also present an alternative technique which does not try to achieve this but does local optimizations aiming global optimizations. Thus, we identify this property as not being absolute necessary for creating robust and heterogeneous multi-tree overlays. We identify two main design goals: robustness and support for heterogeneity, and classify existing approaches into these categories as their main focus

    The morphing of fluid queues into Markov-modulated Brownian motion

    Ramaswami showed recently that standard Brownian motion arises as the limit of a family of Markov-modulated linear fluid processes. We pursue this analysis with a fluid approximation for Markov-modulated Brownian motion. Furthermore, we prove that the stationary distribution of a Markov-modulated Brownian motion reflected at zero is the limit from the well-analyzed stationary distribution of approximating linear fluid processes. Key matrices in the limiting stationary distribution are shown to be solutions of a new quadratic equation, and we describe how this equation can be efficiently solved.     Extinction probabilities of branching processes with countably infinitely many types

    We present two iterative methods for computing the global and partial extinction probability vectors for Galton-Watson processes with countably infinitely many types. The probabilistic interpretation of these methods involves truncated Galton-Watson processes with finite sets of types and modified progeny generating functions. In addition, we discuss the connection of the convergence norm of the mean progeny matrix with extinction criteria. Finally, we give a sufficient condition for a population to become extinct almost surely even though its population size explodes on the average, which is impossible in a branching process with finitely many types. We conclude with some numerical illustrations for our algorithmic methods

    Multipoint-to-multipoint network communication

    We have formulated an exact ILP model for the problem of communicating on a virtual network. While this ILP model was successful in solving small problems, it is not recommended to handle larger instances, due to the fact that the number of variables in the model grows exponentially as the graph size grows. However, this ILP model can provide a benchmark for heuristic algorithms developed for this problem. We have also described a heuristic approach, and explored several variants of the algorithm. We found a solution that seems to perform well with reasonable computation time. The heuristic is able to find solutions that respect the degree constraints, but show a small number of violations of the desired time constraints. Tests on small problems show that heuristic is not always able to find feasible solutions, even though the exact method has shown they exist. It would be interesting in the future to look at whether insights gained by looking at exact solutions can be used to improve the heuristic
