    In this Special Section we highlight existing and emerging scholarship on Belonging in countries with white majority cultures. We argue that ‘belonging’ is a familiar and well researched concept that continues to be relevant today because it is central to the joy and vitality of life that enables us to inhabit multiple worlds. Drawing on intellectual and personal journeys in USA, Canada and Australia, the contributors of ‘Indian’ heritage raise questions that urge us to unsettle hierarchies of belonging in western societies. They build on interdisciplinary theoretical and empirical insights by thinking about the potentialities of bodies for interdependence in a place we call home

    Re-imaging the future in urban studies and built environment discourse: A neurourbanism perspective

    Neurological constructs are being applied in various fields; within urban studies and built environments, neurourbanism stands out. To understand this concept, this study seeks to conduct a scientometric analysis of the concept of neurourbanism. To do so, we gauged the intellectual structure and clarified the influencers and emerging themes while seeking to identify essential gaps in neurourbanism research in urban studies and the built environment. Data were sorted from Dimensions Artificial Intelligence platform because of its reliability in providing the needed dataset accurately, and the Citespace software was used to analyze the data. Our results suggest plurality in explaining the risk factors in urbanicity research, particularly regarding prevalence, incidence, and the general cause of psychosis in urban living. The study also shows that players in the construction sector, such as engineers, town planners, and developers, have not fully grasped how the built environment assists in improving well-being, reducing stress levels of urbanists, assisting migrants in settling into the community, and the general mental wellness of those who live in the city. The study also identified a correlation between urbanization and mental health and added that the main recipient of rapid urban transformation countries does not show leadership in neurourbanism studies

    Rydberg-atom-based single-photon detection for haloscope axion searches

    We propose a Rydberg-atom-based single-photon detector for signal readout in dark matter haloscope experiments between 40 μ{\mu}eV and 200 μ{\mu}eV (10 GHz and 50 GHz). At these frequencies, standard haloscope readout using linear amplifiers is limited by quantum measurement noise, which can be avoided by using a single-photon detector. Our single-photon detection scheme can offer scan rate enhancements up to a factor of 10410^4 over traditional linear amplifier readout, and is compatible with many different haloscope cavities. We identify multiple haloscope designs that could use our Rydberg-atom-based single-photon detector to search for QCD axions with masses above 40 μ{\mu}eV (10 GHz), currently a minimally explored parameter space.Comment: 15 pages, 8 figure

    New Results from HAYSTAC's Phase II Operation with a Squeezed State Receiver

    A search for dark matter axions with masses >10μeV/c2>10 \mu eV/c^{2} has been performed using the HAYSTAC experiment's squeezed state receiver to achieve sub-quantum limited noise. This report includes details of the design and operation of the experiment previously used to search for axions in the mass ranges 16.96−17.1216.96-17.12 and 17.14−17.28μeV/c217.14-17.28 \mu eV/c^{2}(4.100−4.1404.100-4.140GHz) and 4.145−4.1784.145-4.178GHz) as well as upgrades to facilitate an extended search at higher masses. These upgrades include improvements to the data acquisition routine which have reduced the effective dead time by a factor of 5, allowing for the new region to be scanned ∼\sim1.6 times faster with comparable sensitivity. No statistically significant evidence of an axion signal is found in the range 18.44−18.71μeV/c218.44-18.71\mu eV/c^{2}(4.459−4.5234.459-4.523GHz), leading to an aggregate upper limit exclusion at the 90%90\% level on the axion-photon coupling of 2.06×gγKSVZ2.06\times g_{\gamma}^{KSVZ}.Comment: 20 pages, 16 figure
