The conjecture concerning time variations in the solar neutrino flux
The results of the Fourier transformation of the unequally-spaced time series of the recorded Ar-37 production rate of the solar neutrino experiment (runs 18 to 80, 1970 to 1983) are reviewed. Significance criteria for every period discovered by the harmonic analysis are determined. A Fourier synthesis of certain discovered harmonics are performed. It seems that the solar neutrino flux increases shock-like with a period of approximately 8.3 years and after that breaks down. Possible connections between the periods found by the harmonic analysis and several observed phenomena on the solar surface are indicated
Intranasal cold dry air is superior to histamine challenge in determining the presence and degree of nasal hyperreactivity in nonallergic noninfectious perennial rhinitis
The objective of the study was to compare cold dry air (CDA) and histamine
in differentiating patients with nonallergic noninfectious perennial
rhinitis (NANIPER) from control subjects. Nasal reactivity (nasal patency,
mucus production, and sneezing) in 16 symptomatic nonsmoking patients with
NANIPER and seven nonsmoking control subjects was measured with
standardized CDA and histamine provocation series in a randomized
crossover study. Intranasal CDA resulted in increased mucus production and
nasal blockage in a dose-dependent manner in patients with NANIPER but not

Geometric representations for minimalist grammars
We reformulate minimalist grammars as partial functions on term algebras for
strings and trees. Using filler/role bindings and tensor product
representations, we construct homomorphisms for these data structures into
geometric vector spaces. We prove that the structure-building functions as well
as simple processors for minimalist languages can be realized by piecewise
linear operators in representation space. We also propose harmony, i.e. the
distance of an intermediate processing step from the final well-formed state in
representation space, as a measure of processing complexity. Finally, we
illustrate our findings by means of two particular arithmetic and fractal

Almost Linear B\"uchi Automata
We introduce a new fragment of Linear temporal logic (LTL) called LIO and a
new class of Buechi automata (BA) called Almost linear Buechi automata (ALBA).
We provide effective translations between LIO and ALBA showing that the two
formalisms are expressively equivalent. While standard translations of LTL into
BA use some intermediate formalisms, the presented translation of LIO into ALBA
is direct. As we expect applications of ALBA in model checking, we compare the
expressiveness of ALBA with other classes of Buechi automata studied in this
context and we indicate possible applications
Automated Security Analysis of IoT Software Updates
IoT devices often operate unsupervised in ever-changing environments for several years. Therefore, they need to be updated on a regular basis. Current approaches for software updates on IoT, like the recent SUIT proposal, focus on granting integrity and confidentiality but do not analyze the content of the software update, especially the IoT application which is deployed to IoT devices. To this aim, in this paper, we present IoTAV, an automated software analysis framework for systematically verifying the security of the applications contained in software updates w.r.t. a given security policy. Our proposal can be adopted transparently by current IoT software updates workflows. We prove the viability of IoTAV by testing our methodology on a set of actual RIOT OS applications. Experimental results indicate that the approach is viable in terms of both reliability and performance, leading to the identification of 26 security policy violations in 31 real-world RIOT applications
Choreography, controversy and child sex abuse: Theoretical reflections on a cultural criminological analysis of dance in a pop music video
This article was inspired by the controversy over claims of ‘pedophilia!!!!’ undertones and the ‘triggering’ of memories of childhood sexual abuse in some viewers by the dance performance featured in the music video for Sia’s ‘Elastic Heart’ (2015). The case is presented for acknowledging the hidden and/or overlooked presence of dance in social scientific theory and cultural studies and how these can enhance and advance cultural criminological research. Examples of how these insights have been used within other disciplinary frameworks to analyse and address child sex crime and sexual trauma are provided, and the argument is made that popular cultural texts such as dance in pop music videos should be regarded as significant in analysing and tracing public perceptions and epistemologies of crimes such as child sex abuse
