An extended semi-analytical formulation for fast and reliable mode I/II stress analysis of adhesively bonded joints

The Finite Element (FE) method is able to address the stress analysis of adhesively bonded joints. However, analyses based on FE models are computationally expansive and it would be profitable to develop simplified approaches enabling extensive parametric studies. Firstly, a 1D-beam simplified model for the bonded joint stress analysis assuming a linear elastic adhesive material is presented. This model, derived from an approach inspired by the Finite Element (FE) method and based on the semi-analytical formulation of a 4-nodes macro-element, is able to simulate entire bonded overlaps at low computational costs. Secondly, a numerical procedure allowing for non-linear adhesive stress–strain relationships to be accounted for is presented. This procedure allows for various non-linear adhesive behaviors (ie. softening, plastic, etc.) to be accounted for with no restriction on the specimen geometry. The possible mixed-mode I/II response of the adhesive layer is introduced through an extension of the classical Cohesive Zone Modeling (CZM) procedure. The aforementioned procedure is then illustrated using a bi-linear softening adhesive behavior. However the procedure is not limited to this particular behavior only. The results obtained are finally compared to those of more time-consuming 2D FE strength predictions. Good agreement is shown

Caractérisation des propriétés d'adhésion et de frottement de quelques matériaux : influence des conditions opératoires

L'objectif de cette thèse était d'analyser les forces d'interaction en milieu liquide à l'aide de la microscopie à force atomique (AFM) et d'utiliser les résultats des mesures, pour expliquer le frottement mesuré dans le cadre de la microtribologie (charge de 200 mN). Les expériences ont été menées dans différents électrolytes (eau, éthanol, éthylène glycol, formamide) et à pH variable. L'étude de l'influence de la nature de l'électrolyte sur les interactions entre la pointe de l'AFM (Si3N4) et différentes surfaces (verre, Si, films TiN et DLC) a montré une forte corrélation entre le frottement commençant et l'hystérésis d'adhésion mesurée par AFM. L'étude de l'influence du pH sur les forces d'interaction entre la pointe et différents matériaux (SiC, Ni, Cu) a montré que selon la valeur du pH, les matériaux testés présentent des interactions de type attractif ou répulsif dues à leur charge portée en surface qui se manifestent aussi bien sur les propriétés d'adhésion que de frottement.The aim of this thesis was to analyze the interaction in liquid environment with an atomic force microscope (AFM) and to use the results of the measurements to explain the friction measured in microtribology (load of 200 mN). Etude de systèmes ternaires à base de Cr et N pour applications mécaniques sur outils de coupe destinés à la transformation du bois

Les actes de ce colloque francophone ont été mis sur un CD-Rom, pas en version papier.Le présent travail se propose d'étudier les propriétés physico-chimiques et mécaniques de revêtements PVD nanocristallins ou nanocomposites (CrAlN, CrSiN) obtenus sur différents substrats et destinés à la première et seconde transformation du bois une fois leur optimisation effectuée. Pour cela, les couches de CrAlN obtenues par magnétron RF ont subit des observations au MEB afin de déterminer la morphologie des couches alors que de la microanalyse EDS a défini leur composition. La structure des couches a été déterminée par diffraction de rayons X. Nous avons alors mesuré l’épaisseur des couches par profilométrie et par interférométrie puis on en a déduit les contraintes internes de celles-ci. L’adhérence et la dureté des couches ont été obtenues par scratch-tests et nanoindentation. Enfin, des analyses plus fines telles que de l’XPS et du SIMS ont été réalisées afin de déterminer les phases en présence dans ces couches. La co-pulvérisation réactive des cibles de Cr et Si en position confocale, est un procedé séduisant pour l’élaboration de films de CrSiN avec une structure nanocomposite du type nc-CrN/a-SiNx. Les analyses EDS et les caractérisations par DRX et nanoindentation confirment dans ces films la présence de phase cristallisée de type CrN et la possibilité de faire varier leur teneur en silicium corrélée avec des changements de dureté.Conseil Régional de Bourgogne ainsi que le Conseil Régional de Franche-Comté dans le cadre de ce projet transrégional intitulé « ROBUS », CTBA cofinanceur de la thèse de C. Anisotropic thermal conductivity of nanocolumnar W thin films

International audienceWe report on experimental investigations of the thermal conductivity in W thin films 350 nm thick sputter-deposited by glancing angle deposition (GLAD). The 3ω method is used to measure the in-plane thermal conductivity kx and ky for films deposited with a deposition angle α of 0° and 80°. For classical films (α = 0°), the thermal conductivity is 71 Wm-1K-1 for both x and y directions, whereas for GLAD films (α = 80°) the in-plane conduction strongly drops with kx = 3.2 Wm-1K-1 and ky = 4.8 Wm-1K-1. The in-plane thermal conductivity anisotropy is determined with a heat conduction favored in the direction perpendicular to the deposition axis (anisotropic ratio of 1.5), which is connected to the anisotropic columnar microstructure. Some correlations with the electrical conductivity are discussed showing a significant deviation from the Wiedemann-Franz law for the in-plane transport properties of GLAD W films
