Displaying families.
mecanismos familiares.Scientific transformations and socio-political advances have supposed an alternative to
motherhood access that transcend the heterosexual couple. This ruptura with the normative generates
doubts and fears between same-sex couples that want to be mothers. Some of these doubts are related
to the reaction and answers that they can obtain of their families of origin. The main of this
investigation is to analyze the meaning and value that same-sex families give to their families of
origin during this process. A qualitative investigation was carried out with nine female same-sex
couples and two single women that were mothers through assisted reproduction treatments. The
results indicate that families of origin have a central position in their lifes. Some families of origin
experienced their daughters motherhood as a process that oscillated between initial rejection towards
final aceptation. As a part of this aceptation, some families employed mechanisms to make visible
their relationships. According to Finch (2007), these mechanisms are grouped together displaying
families category, as a way to reinforce familiar functions
Psychometric Validation of the Portuguese Version of the Modern Homonegativity Scale among Portuguese College Students
The studies focused on analysing attitudes toward homosexuality show that the manifestation
of homonegativity has evolved into more modern forms. We therefore propose using
instruments that capture subtle aspects in discrimination against gay and lesbian people. The objective
of this study is twofold. First, we aim to adapt and validate the Portuguese version of the
Modern Homonegativity Scale. Second, we set out to analyse the modern homonegativity shown
by Portuguese university students. The scale includes two parallel subscales (MHS-Gay Men and
MHS-LesbianWomen), each with 12 items. Six hundred and forty-one Portuguese college students
between 18 and 27 years of age participated in the study (Mage = 21.23; SD = 1.88). The results
demonstrate the unidimensionality of the scale and a high degree of internal consistency, along
with satisfactory fit indices. Those people who identified as male and heterosexual showed greater
modern homonegativity. We conclude that the Portuguese version of the MHS is valid and reliable
for evaluating modern homonegativity in Portugal.
The design of educative programs created to develop the middle school students´ skills is a
recurrent subject in educational literature. The aim of this article is to find evidences that
support an enrichment program oriented to improve motivation and engagement in gifted
students. The sample of sixty students (10-12 years old) was taken from a Peruvian middle
school. The instrument used in this study were the School Attitude Assessment Survey-
Revised (SAAS-R) (Siegle y McCoach, 2005) to measure motivation and a rubric revised by
experts to measure engagement. Finally, the results are discussed and some improvements

Knowledge and attitudes of undergraduate students towards sexual and gender diversity in the field of helping professions
International research has emphasized the work of professionals in the field of helping professions in terms of attention to DASGE (sexual and gender diversity). Although showing a low level of homophobia and transphobia, the lack of initial and continuous training can affect the possession of skills and resources to intervene adequately. Furthermore, this deficit seems to condition the display of positive attitudes towards this collective, affecting their professional performance. From the need to advance in this type of studies in the national context, this research aims to analyse the attitudes and knowledge of students in the field of social intervention (social work and social education) towards the DASGE belonging to the University of Huelva. An ex-post study was carried out with a sample of 307 students, with the application of a self-reporting instrument. The results reveal a deficit in specific and legislative training in relation to the DASGE. They also show that the higher or lower level of knowledge, as well as homonegativity and transphobia, are related to the correlation of certain variables (academic year, university degree, sexual orientation, contact with LGBT people, religious feeling, political inclination, and cause of homosexuality). Finally, the need to revise the study programs of both degrees is concluded, adapting the contents for specific training of students in DASGE. The findings point to the importance of university counselling services taking LGBT diversity into account in their awareness-raising and training interventions
