Orientalismo a su pesar : Gao Xingjian y las paradojas del sistema literario global
This paper shortly reviews a few of the reactions to the Nobel Literature Prize awarded to Gao Xingjian in 2000. It argues that, when circulating within a globalized, cross-cultural literary sistem, both Gao’s figure and work have been defined by an Orientalist hermeneutical perspective that, at certain points, contradicts the postulates of the writer and the value of his work. This is a mechanism to which writer and work are inescapably subjected.Este artÃculo realiza un breve repaso a algunas reacciones a la concesión del premio Nobel de literatura del año 2000 a Gao Xingjian. El articulo sostiene que, al entrar en circulación dentro de un sistema literario intercultural y globalizado, la figura y la obra de Gao han quedado definidas a través de un prisma interpretativo orientalista que, en algunos puntos, entra en contradicción con los postulados del autor y el valor de su obra. Comments on Unified dark energy and dark matter from a scalar field different from quintessence
In a recent paper by C. Gao, M. Kunz, A. Liddle and D. Parkinson
[arXiv:0912.0949], the unification of dark matter and dark energy was explored
within a theory containing a scalar field of non-Lagrangian type. This scalar
field, different from the classic quintessence, can be obtained from the scalar
field representation of an interacting two-fluid mixture described in the paper
by L.P. Chimento and M. Forte [arXiv:0706.4142

Design Studies for a High Current Bunching System for CLIC Test Facility (CTF3) Drive Beam
A bunching system is proposed for the initial stage of CTF3 which consists of
one (two) 3 GHz prebunchers and one 3 GHz travelling wave (TW) buncher with
variable phase velocities. The electron beam is emitted from a 140 KV DC gun.
Since the macropulse beam current (3.5 A) at the exit of the TW buncher is
rather high, inside the TW buncher one has to take the beam loading effect into
consideration. By using PARMELA, it is shown numerically that the bunching
system can provide the bunches whose properties satisfy the design requirement
of CTF3. The 0.8 m long TW buncher working at 2pi/3 mode has two phase
velocities, 0.75 and 1. The dimensions of the caities in the two phase velocity
regions are proposed considering the beam loading effect. The transient beam
loading effect and the multibunch transverse instabilities are studied
numerically, and it is concluded that higher order mode couplers should be
installed in the TW buncher with the loaded quality factor of the dipole mode
