Children’s semantic and world knowledge overrides fictional information during anticipatory linguistic processing
Using real-time eye-movement measures, we asked how a fantastical discourse context competes with stored representations of semantic and world knowledge to influence children's and adults' moment-by-moment interpretation of a story. Seven-year- olds were less effective at bypassing stored semantic and world knowledge during real-time interpretation than adults. Nevertheless, an effect of discourse context on comprehension was still apparent
ANALYTICAL CALCULATION OF WATER RETENTION CAPACITY, SPECIFIC FOR FORESTRY TERRACES SITUATED ON SLOPE DEGRADED LANDS
Terracing slopes necessitate making of "steps" along level lines, which ensures the processing of land on a certain percentage of the total area. The main constructive feature of terraced is the platform, namely width and counterslopes. Platform terraces are arranged with counterslopes, which ensures conditions for accumulation of rainwater and slows surface leaks, favoring the development of woody vegetation (trees, shrubs, fruit trees, vines) and fixes the mobilized soil by terracing action.Given the above, it raises the question of determining the water volume that canaccumulate depending on the width and terrace contraslope tilt
INCREASING THE EFFICIENCY OF HEATING SYSTEMS BY USING HEAT PUMPS
The problem of making heating systems more efficient was imposed due to the trend of increasing the demand for energy correlated in the same time with the increase of energy costs. Out of the various forms of energy used, in the current trend of developing the technique, the heat energy has the largest share in the energy balance of a country. EU policy in this field, expressed by the White Paper and the European Directive 2001/77/EC on energy production from renewable sources, states that, by 2020, the European Union will need to provide the necessary energy in a ratio of about 15 % by harnessing renewable sources. A solution of recovering the important heat quantities from the environment is the use of heat pumps which offers a real alternative to classic fuels, while contributing to reducing CO2 emissions up to 50% compared to using conventional boilers. They get about three quarters of the energy required for heating from the environment, and for the rest, they use electricity as driving energy
RESEARCH ON THE WORKING PROCESS OPTIMIZATION OF A COMBINED INSTALLATION FOR GRAINS CLEANING
This paper presents experimental research of qualitative indexes of impurities separation out of grains seeds for one installation which used combined principles of separation (according to specific mass and aerodynamic properties of seeds). The installation used on the experimental research was composed of a gravity separator and an aspiration installation. Based on data obtained by measurements and regulated qualitative indicators the cleaning process indexes have been determined
