Bid Optimization by Multivariable Control in Display Advertising

Real-Time Bidding (RTB) is an important paradigm in display advertising, where advertisers utilize extended information and algorithms served by Demand Side Platforms (DSPs) to improve advertising performance. A common problem for DSPs is to help advertisers gain as much value as possible with budget constraints. However, advertisers would routinely add certain key performance indicator (KPI) constraints that the advertising campaign must meet due to practical reasons. In this paper, we study the common case where advertisers aim to maximize the quantity of conversions, and set cost-per-click (CPC) as a KPI constraint. We convert such a problem into a linear programming problem and leverage the primal-dual method to derive the optimal bidding strategy. To address the applicability issue, we propose a feedback control-based solution and devise the multivariable control system. The empirical study based on real-word data from Taobao.com verifies the effectiveness and superiority of our approach compared with the state of the art in the industry practices

Effect of mineralizer on the hydrothermal synthesis of Bi 0.5 Na 0.5 TiO 3 lead-free piezoelectric crystals

The effect of mineralizer upon the fabrication of lead-free, piezoelectric Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 (BNT) was investigated using a hydrothermal reaction technique. Results indicated that BNT crystals can be formed in a basic environment controlled by a NaOH mineralizer. The morphologies and sizes of the resultant particles are determined by the concentration of NaOH: a lower alkaline concentration leads to the particles with a spherical shape consisting of a number of small, intergrown BNT crystals while a higher NaOH concentration (e.g. > 12 mol/L) results in large, individual BNT cubes. Possible growth mechanisms of the BNT particles were discussed in conjunction with surface hydration, dehydration and free water content during the hydrothermal reaction

Integrable deformations of the Bogoyavlenskij-Itoh Lotka-Volterra systems

We construct a family of integrable deformations of the Bogoyavlenskij-Itoh systems and construct a Lax operator with spectral parameter for it. Our approach is based on the construction of a family of compatible Poisson structures for the undeformed system, whose Casimirs are shown to yield a generating function for the integrals in involution of the deformed systems. We show how these deformations are related to the Veselov-Shabat systems.Comment: 23 pages, 14 reference

A comparative study of ATPase subunit 9 (Atp9) gene between cytoplasmic male sterile line and its maintainer line in soybeans

ATPase subunit 9 gene (Atp9) is an important functional gene in mitochondria, and is closely related with energy supply. RNA editing of atp9 gene was associated with male sterility in plants. In this study, the atp9 gene in soybeans was cloned from a soybean cytoplasmic male sterile line NJCMS2A and its maintainer line NJCMS2B. Sequence alignment was performed, and protein structures were analyzed and compared between the soybean cytoplasmic male sterile line NJCMS2A and its maintainer line NJCMS2B. The results show that the fragments with identical sequences of atp9 gene were amplified from the genomic DNA of NJCMS2A and NJCMS2B, while the sequences of atp9 were different when they were amplified from cDNAs of NJCMS2A and NJCMS2B. RNA editing of atp9 gene in the maintainer line NJCMS2B was detected with two nucleotide sites (C to U) in the conserved region, leading to conversion of hydrophilic amino acid serine into hydrophobic leucine. No RNA editing was detected in atp9 gene in the male sterile line NJCMS2A. The putative trans-membrane structures of the atp9 proteins were different, and their trans-membrane directions were opposite.Key words: Soybean, cytoplasmic male sterility, atp9 gene, RNA editing

Optimal Configuration of Redundant Inertial Sensors for Navigation and FDI Performance

    Get PDF
This paper considers the optimal sensor configuration for inertial navigation systems which have redundant inertial sensors such as gyroscopes and accelerometers. We suggest a method to determine the optimal sensor configuration which considers both the navigation and FDI performance. Monte Carlo simulations are performed to show the performance of the suggested optimal sensor configuration method
