Adaptive multiagent system for seismic emergency management

    Get PDF
Presently, most multiagent frameworks are typically programmed in Java. Since the JADE platform has been recently ported to .NET, we used it to create an adaptive multiagent system where the knowledge base of the agents is managed using the CLIPS language, also called from .NET. The multiagent system is applied to create seismic risk scenarios, simulations of emergency situations, in which different parties, modeled as adaptive agents, interact and cooperate.adaptive systems, risk management, seisms.

THE IMPORTANCE OF FORESTRY AT MACROECONOMIC AND MICROECONOMIC LEVEL

    Get PDF
The products and services provided by the forest to the population have a great economic and social value, the place of the forestry economy in the national economy being illustrated by the demand for these products and services on the internal and international market. Forests play an important role, not only in the intake of carbon dioxide, but also in the production of biomass and through their potential they have in the renewable energies field. These are important also from a social and cultural point of view, being attractive for the rural and urban population, allowing recreational or healthy activities to take place and they represent an important cultural patrimony. They produce a multitude of goods (wood, berries, edible mushrooms) and protective and recreational activities (hydrological, soil and biodiversity protection). Thus, more and more entrepreneurs tend to develop a business in the field of forestry and forestry exploitation. The purpose of this paper is to determine whether a business in the field is truly cost-effective and whether it can meet both the expectations of the managers and the needs of the clients

    Design patterns for multi-agent simulations

    Get PDF
The advent of mobile agent technology has brought along a few difficulties in designing a stable, efficient and scalable system for a certain problem. Agent-based simulations prove to be powerful tools for economic analyses. In this paper we aim at describing a set of design patterns which were specifically built for agents and multi-agent systems. The details of each design pattern discussed are presented and the possible applications and known issues are noted. In order to aid the software designers, we provide some examples of the basic implementation of these patterns using the JADE multi-agent framework.intelligent agent, multi-agent design, multi-agent simulation.

MANAGING THE VISITOR EXPERIENCE ON ROMANIAN RELIGIOUS SITES: MONASTERIES ABBOTS’ PERCEPTIONS

    Get PDF
For thousands of years, people have been travelling to places considered sacred to meet or to worship Divinity. Religion-motivated tourism is extremely important in many parts of the world. The aim of this paper is to investigate the issue of the religious tourism experience for a religion considered to be conservative and traditionalist in relation to other denominations. In order to achieve this end we distinguish the behavioural characteristics and motivations of the religious sites’ visitors through the abbots’ gaze. The research method of this study is a questionnaire based survey among more than one hundred monasteries’ superiors from different regions of Romania, places known as “holy or sacred” destinations for the Romanian religious people.visitor experience, religious tourism, religious site management, Romanian monasteries

Groundwater quality monitoring study in the west region of Romania

    Get PDF
In the present study it was investigated the groundwater quality and its suitability for drinking purposes in several urban and rural areas from Timis, Arad and Bihor counties (West Region of Romania). We have established general and specific techniques for the analytical investigation of the inorganic and organic matrix in the environmental components of water from underground sources, for the identification and quantification of persistent pollutants with toxic potential, especially considering the presence of chlorobenzenes and organo-chlorinated pesticides, organophosphorus pesticides, plant treatment agents (triazine pesticides), benzene and benzene derivatives, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and toxic metals, specifically tracking the presence of arsenic in groundwater resources in the Western Region of Romania

Pitfalls and problems encountered in rat model sciatic nerve surgery

    Get PDF
When learning the basics of microsurgery, a trainee must be equipped with patience and perseverance in order to evolve. One must have the ground knowledge when it comes to peripheral nerve injury and nerve regeneration process in order to fully understand that the technique is vital for the outcome and final results. Furthermore, a trainee must practice on non-living tissue before performing successful in vivo operations and even in this case, one may be confronted with problems regarding the surgical technique. [1] The following article aims to reveal the main problems/mistakes when performing sciatic nerve surgery in an in vivo experimental model and the solutions for these problems

A New Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry Method for Determination of Bisoprolol in Human Plasma Samples

    Get PDF
Liquid chromatography (LC) coupled with mass spectrometry (MS) detection is one of the most powerful analytical tools for organic compound analysis. The advantages of using LC/MS methods over HPLC methods include: selectivity, chromatographic integrity, peak assignment, structural information, and rapid method development. In this paper, a new liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method has been developed and validated for the determination of bisoprolol in human plasma samples, using metoprolol as internal standard and liquid-liquid extraction procedure. The assay has proven to be sensitive, specific and reproducible, suitable to determine the bisoprolol concentration, following a single oral administration of a 10 mg bisoprolol tablet in 22 healthy volunteers, in the bioequivalence study of Bisoprolol 10 mg coated tablets, produced by Antibiotice S.A. versus Concor 10 mg, produced by Merck
