Diquark Representations for Singly Heavy Baryons with Light Staggered Quarks

This policy brief examines the evolution of the hedge fund industry, the industry’s structure and the prospect of regulatory steps looming on the horizon. In the wake of the recent bust of Amaranth and of the increased ‘retailisation’ of the industry, hedge funds have increasingly come under the close scrutiny of regulators. In this ECMI Policy Brief, Charles Gottlieb explores the economic rationale that should be kept in mind for any appropriate policy making in this area. He concludes by outlining the regulatory uncertainties remaining with binding the hedge fund industry together with MiFID and UCITS regulations
Lattice field theory applications in high energy physics
Lattice gauge theory was formulated by Kenneth Wilson in 1974. In the ensuing
decades, improvements in actions, algorithms, and computers have enabled
tremendous progress in QCD, to the point where lattice calculations can yield
sub-percent level precision for some quantities. Beyond QCD, lattice methods
are being used to explore possible beyond the standard model (BSM) theories of
dynamical symmetry breaking and supersymmetry. We survey progress in extracting
information about the parameters of the standard model by confronting lattice
calculations with experimental results and searching for evidence of BSM

Reevaluating the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act: Amending the Statute to Explicitly Address the Cloud
Under the current interpretations of authorization, instances where an individual harmlessly accesses the cloud data of another user could be classified as hacking and a violation of this federal statute. As such, this Note demonstrates that all of the current interpretations of the CFAA are too broad because they could result in this nonsensical outcome. This Note accordingly proposes an amendment to the CFAA specifically addressing user access to data on the cloud. Such an amendment would eliminate the unusual result of innocuous cloud-computing users being deemed hackers under federal law
Eigenbundles, Quaternions, and Berry's Phase
Given a parameterized space of square matrices, the associated set of
eigenvectors forms some kind of a structure over the parameter space. When is
that structure a vector bundle? When is there a vector field of eigenvectors?
We answer those questions in terms of three obstructions, using a Homotopy
Theory approach. We illustrate our obstructions with five examples. One of
those examples gives rise to a 4 by 4 matrix representation of the Complex
Quaternions. This representation shows the relationship of the Biquaternions
with low dimensional Lie groups and algebras, Electro-magnetism, and Relativity
Theory. The eigenstructure of this representation is very interesting, and our
choice of notation produces important mathematical expressions found in those
fields and in Quantum Mechanics. In particular, we show that the Doppler shift
