The thermophysical properties are crucial during coal spontaneous combustion. In the current paper, the variations of moisture, ash, volatiles, fixed carbon and thermophysical properties (thermal diffusivity, specific heat and thermal conductivity) of three coal samples from 30 °C to 300 °C were studied, and their grey correlation was analyzed. The results indicated that with the increase of temperature, the free moisture of Coals A and B decreased first but then increased, while the free moisture of Coal C kept decreasing without a later increase. The variation of surface moisture was consistent with that of free moisture. The trend of volatiles and fixed carbon was completely the opposite, showing a significant negative correlation. Ash was less affected by temperature. Along with the rise of temperature, the thermal diffusivity of three coal samples decreased first but later increased, and the specific heat was always in a state of increasing. The change in thermal conductivity was mainly affected by specific heat. By calculating the gray correlation degree, the major factors affecting the thermophysical properties were obtained

    Iron pnictides: Single crystal growth and effect of doping on structural, transport and magnetic properties

    Full text link
    We demonstrate the preparation of large, free standing iron pnictide single crystals with a size up to 20 x 10 x 1 mm3 using solvents in zirconia crucibles under argon atmosphere. Transport and magnetic properties are investigated to study the effect of potassium doping on the structural and superconducting property of the compounds. The spin density wave (SDW) anomaly at Ts ~138 K in BaFe2As2 single crystals from self-flux shifts to Ts ~85 K due to Sn solvent growth. We show direct evidence for an incorporation of Sn on the Fe site. The electrical resistivity data show a sharp superconducting transition temperature Tc~38.5 K for the single crystal of Ba0.68K0.32Fe2As2. A nearly 100% shielding fraction and bulk nature of the superconductivity for the single crystal were confirmed by magnetic susceptibility data. A sharp transition Tc~25 K occurred for the single crystal of Sr0.85K0.15Fe2As2. There is direct evidence for a coexistence of the SDW and superconductivity in the low doping regime of Sr1-xKxFe2As2 single crystals. Structural implications of the doping effects as well as the coexistence of the two order parameters are discussed.Comment: 22 pages, 9 figure

    Numerical Simulation-Based Optimization of Contact Stress Distribution and Lubrication Conditions in the Straight Worm Drive

    No full text
    Tooth contact area optimization/meshing of the straight worm pair is vital for improving its operation efficiency. Geometric parameters of a worm helicoid were derived via the gear meshing theory using the equations of the instantaneous contact line. The visualization function and powerful computing capability of MATLAB are used for the numerical analysis where the instantaneous contact line distribution is simulated for particular worm drive parameters, which yields the induced curvature and slip angle in the direction of the line. The above results are used for further optimization of the meshing performance of the straight worm gear and identification of its influencing factors. A case study of the particular cylindrical worm gear in compliance with the GB 10085-1988 Standard of China demonstrate that a reasonable selection of worm gear parameters can extend the contact line and the working range of the tooth surface of the worm gear and/or make the contact line distribution along the worm wheel more uniform, thus improving the local meshing performanceОптимизация зубчатой контактной поверхности/зацепление прямолинейной червячной пары определяют повышение эффективности ее эксплуатации. Геометрические параметры червячного геликоида получены с использованием теории зацепления зубчатых колес и уравнения линии мгновенного контакта. Численный анализ основан на функции визуализации и вычислительных возможностях программы MATLAB, что позволяет моделировать распределение на линии мгновенного контакта для специфических параметров червячного привода, создавая вынужденную кривизну и угол скольжения в направлении этой линии. Полученные результаты обеспечивают последующую оптимизацию параметров зацепления прямолинейной червячной передачи и установление определяющих факторов. Пример использования специфической цилиндрической червячной передачи в соответствии со стандартом Китая (GB 10085-1988) показывает, что рациональный выбор параметров этой передачи может увеличить линию контакта, а также расширить рабочий диапазон ее зубчатой поверхности и/или обеспечить более равномерный контакт по червячному колесу, повышая тем самым эффективность локального зацепления

    Small-polaron hopping conductivity in bilayer manganite La1.2_{1.2}Sr1.8_{1.8}Mn2_{2}O7_{7}

    Full text link
    We report anisotropic resistivity measurements on a La1.2_{1.2}Sr1.8_{1.8}Mn2_{2}O7_{7} single crystal over a temperature TT range from 2 to 400 K and in magnetic fields HH up to 14 T. For T218T\geq 218 K, the temperature dependence of the zero-field in-plane ρab(T)\rho_{ab}(T) resistivity obeys the adiabatic small polaron hopping mechanism, while the out-of-plane ρc(T)\rho_{c}(T) resistivity can be ascribed by an Arrhenius law with the same activation energy. Considering the magnetic character of the polarons and the close correlation between the resistivity and magnetization, we developed a model which allows the determination of ρab,c(H,T)\rho_{ab,c}(H,T). The excellent agreement of the calculations with the measurements indicates that small polarons play an essential role in the electrical transport properties in the paramagnetic phase of bilayer manganites.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures, to appear in Physical Review

    No full text
    A new approach to quick preparation of a nitrided case for low-carbon low-alloy steels was proposed. It is based on cold hardening and pressurized gas nitriding. The microstructure, surface hardness, thickness, and corrosion resistance of the nitrided layer on low-carbon low-alloy steel (20CrMnTi) were investigated after the nitriding at 510°C for 5 h under different cold rolling reduction (0–60% CR) and nitriding pressure (1–5 atm).Предложен новый способ получения азотированного слоя на малоуглеродистых низколегированных сталях с использованием холодного деформирования и газового азотирования давлением. Изучены микроструктура, поверхностная твердость, толщина и коррозионная стойкость азотированного слоя на стали 20CrMnTi после азотирования при 510°С в течение 5 ч в различных условиях обжатия при холодной прокатке (0-60% СR) и давлении азотирования (1-5 атм)

    Do You See What Eyes See? Implementing Inattentional Blindness

    Get PDF
    This paper presents a computational model of visual attention incorporating a cognitive imperfection known as inattentional blindness. We begin by presenting four factors that determine successful attention allocation: conspicuity, mental workload, expectation and capacity. We then propose a framework to study the effects of those factors on an unexpected object and conduct an experiment to measure the corresponding subjective awareness level. Finally, we discuss the application of a visual attention model for conversational agents

    Dislocation-Mediated Melting: The One-Component Plasma Limit

    Full text link
    The melting parameter Γm\Gamma_m of a classical one-component plasma is estimated using a relation between melting temperature, density, shear modulus, and crystal coordination number that follows from our model of dislocation-mediated melting. We obtain Γm=172±35,\Gamma_m=172\pm 35, in good agreement with the results of numerous Monte-Carlo calculations.Comment: 8 pages, LaTe

    Using 5.8×107J/ψ5.8 \times 10^7 J/\psi events collected in the BESII detector, the radiative decay J/ψγϕϕγK+KKS0KL0J/\psi \to \gamma \phi \phi \to \gamma K^+ K^- K^0_S K^0_L is studied. The ϕϕ\phi\phi invariant mass distribution exhibits a near-threshold enhancement that peaks around 2.24 GeV/c2c^{2}. A partial wave analysis shows that the structure is dominated by a 0+0^{-+} state (η(2225)\eta(2225)) with a mass of 2.240.02+0.030.02+0.032.24^{+0.03}_{-0.02}{}^{+0.03}_{-0.02} GeV/c2c^{2} and a width of 0.19±0.030.04+0.060.19 \pm 0.03^{+0.06}_{-0.04} GeV/c2c^{2}. The product branching fraction is: Br(J/ψγη(2225))Br(η(2225)ϕϕ)=(4.4±0.4±0.8)×104Br(J/\psi \to \gamma \eta(2225))\cdot Br(\eta(2225)\to \phi\phi) = (4.4 \pm 0.4 \pm 0.8)\times 10^{-4}.Comment: 11 pages, 4 figures. corrected proof for journa
