Contribuição dos caracteres de qualidade da forragem ao teor de proteína bruta em Urochloa brizantha
Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi identificar quais caracteres qualitativos poderão ser usados na seleção direta e indireta de genótipos de Urochloa brizantha, quanto ao teor de proteína bruta. Foram avaliados nove genótipos, em delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com duas repetições. Os caracteres qualitativos avaliados foram: volume de gás acumulado nas frações rápida e lenta, proteína bruta, fibras em detergentes neutro e ácido, celulose, lignina, sílica e digestibilidade in vitro da matéria orgânica. A digestibilidade in vitro da matéria orgânica é indicada tanto para a seleção direta quanto indireta de genótipos de U. brizantha com maior teor de proteína bruta
Results of measurements of the analyzing powers for polarized neutrons on C, CH <inf>2</inf> and Cu targets for momenta between 3 and 4.2 GeV/c
The analyzing powers for neutron charge exchange nA → pX reactions on nuclei have been measured on C, CH2 and Cu targets at incident neutron momenta 3.0 - 4.2 GeV/c by detecting one charged particle in forward direction. The polarized neutron measurements are the first of their kind. The experiment was performed using the Nuclotron accelerator in JINR Dubna, where polarized neutrons and protons were obtained from breakup of a polarized deuteron beam which has a maximum momentum of 13 GeV/c. The polarimeter ALPOM2 was used to obtain the analyzing power dependence on the transverse momentum of the final-state nucleon. These data have been used to estimate the figure of merit of a proposed experiment at Jefferson Laboratory to measure the recoiling neutron polarization in the quasi-elastic 2H(e, e'n) reaction, which yields information on the charge and magnetic elastic form factors of the neutron

Summary of control and data acquisition systems for Nova experiments
The Nova Laser has completed its first year of operation. During this period, emphasis has been placed on activation of the facility and of the numerous target and beam diagnostics. Two separate target chambers are in use. Nova operation is separated into two broad functions: Laser Operations and Experiments. The Operations Group provides the laser system control, operation and data acquisition and the Experiments Group provides experiment definition, diagnostic instrumentation and overall data processing. On the Operations side, VAX 11/780 computers are used to set up diagnostic operating parameters and collect data recorded by the CAMAC and CCD modules. These data are delivered in files by electronic link to the Laser Experiments and Analysis Facility (LEAF) VAX 11/785 of the Experiments Group for processing. Film data are digitized at LEAF and the film data files are also processed on the LEAF VAX
