Analysis of genetic linkage in the cowpea vigna unguiculata
Genetic analysis of 12 loci conditioning morphological characteristics indicated several linkages in cowpea Vigna
unguiculata (L.) Walp). Using both backcross and F2 joint segregation data, these 12 loci were assigned to five
linkage groups. The loci Pg for nodal pigmentation, Pf for purple flower, Pc for smooth seed coat, Na for narrow
eye, and Br for brown seed coat make up linkage group 1 with the probable order Pg-Na-BrP-cPf The Bpd locus
for branching peduncle was linked to Bp for brown dry pod and Dhp for pod dehiscence with the probable order
Bpd-Bp-Dhp. The third linkage group consisted of loci Crl for crinkled leaf and Pt for sessile leaf Hastate leaf
shape, Ha, and septafoliolate leaf number, Spt, belong to the fourth and fifth linkage groups, respectively
When Black Holes Meet Kaluza-Klein Bubbles
We explore the physical consequences of a recently discovered class of exact
solutions to five dimensional Kaluza-Klein theory. We find a number of
surprising features including: (1) In the presence of a Kaluza-Klein bubble,
there are arbitrarily large black holes with topology S^3. (2) In the presence
of a black hole or a black string, there are expanding bubbles (with de Sitter
geometry) which never reach null infinity. (3) A bubble can hold two black
holes of arbitrary size in static equilibrium. In particular, two large black

Black Hole Relics in String Gravity: Last Stages of Hawking Evaporation
One of the most intriguing problem of modern physics is the question of the
endpoint of black hole evaporation. Based on Einstein-dilaton-Gauss-Bonnet four
dimensional string gravity model we show that black holes do not disappear and
that the end of the evaporation process leaves some relic. The possibility of
experimental detection of the remnant black holes is investigated. If they
really exist, such objects could be a considerable part of the non baryonic

Near-extremal and extremal quantum-corrected two-dimensional charged black holes
We consider charged black holes within dilaton gravity with
exponential-linear dependence of action coefficients on dilaton and minimal
coupling to quantum scalar fields. This includes, in particular, CGHS and RST
black holes in the uncharged limit. For non-extremal configuration quantum
correction to the total mass, Hawking temperature, electric potential and
metric are found explicitly and shown to obey the first generalized law. We
also demonstrate that quantum-corrected extremal black holes in these theories
do exist and correspond to the classically forbidden region of parameters in
the sense that the total mass ( is a charge). We show that in
the limit (where is the Hawking temperature) the mass and
geometry of non-extremal configuration go smoothly to those of the extremal
one, except from the narrow near-horizon region. In the vicinity of the horizon
the quantum-corrected geometry (however small quantum the coupling parameter
would be) of a non-extremal configuration tends to not the
quantum-corrected extremal one but to the special branch of solutions with the
constant dilaton (2D analog of the Bertotti-Robinson metric) instead.
Meanwhile, if exactly, the near-extremal configuration tends to the
extremal one. We also consider the dilaton theory which corresponds classically
to the spherically-symmetrical reduction from 4D case and show that for the

M2-Branes and Background Fields
We discuss the coupling of multiple M2-branes to the background 3-form and
6-form gauge fields of eleven-dimensional supergravity, including the coupling
of the Fermions. In particular we show in detail how a natural generalization
of the Myers flux-terms, along with the resulting curvature of the background
metric, leads to mass terms in the effective field theory.Comment: 19 page
Void elimination in screen printed thick film dielectric pastes
The problem is to understand the mechanisms for the formation and evolution of defects in wet screen printed layers. The primary objective is to know how best to alter the properties of the paste (rather than the geometry of the screen printing process itself) in order to eliminate the defects.
With these goals in mind the work done during the Study Group reported here was as follows; to describe a simple model for the closure of craters, a model for the partial closure of vias, a possible mechanism for the formation of pinholes and finally a more detailed consideration of the screen printing process
