Production at High in Central Au+Au and collisions at GeV in STAR
he production at high- (5.0 10.0 GeV/)
measured in minimum bias , Au+Au and central Au+Au collisions in the STAR
detector are presented. The ratio measured in is compared to
PYTHIA calculations as a test of perturbative quantum chromodynamics (pQCD)
that describes reasonably well particle production from hard processes. The
nuclear modification factor are also presented. In collisions,
charged pions and (anti-)protons are measured in the range 5.0
15.0 GeV/ and the anti-particle to particle ratio and the baryon to meson

Nonacceptability criteria and closure properties for the class of languages accepted by binary systolic tree automata
AbstractIn this paper a contribution is given to the solution of the problem of finding an inductive characterization of the class of languages accepted by binary systolic tree automata, L(BSTA), in terms of the closure of a class of languages with respect to certain operations. It is shown that L(BSTA) is closed with respect to some new operations: selective concatenation, restricted concatenation and restricted iteration. The known nonclosure of L(BSTA) with respect to classical language operations, like concatenation and Kleene iteration is proved here by using a new nonacceptability criterion
Fauna do solo e suas relações com atributos físico-químicos.
Este trabalho objetivou avaliar a diversidade da fauna edáfica e suas relações com os atributos físico-químicos. Foram escolhidas sete áreas, representativas da região Oeste do estado de Santa Catarina (região de Chapecó, SC), abrangendo as seguintes condições de uso: 1) Plantio convencional com rotação de culturas (PCRC1); 2) Plantio direto com rotação de culturas (PDRC2); 3) Plantio convencional com sucessão de cultura (PCSC3); 4) Plantio direto com sucessão de culturas (PDSC4); 5) Cultivo mínimo com sucessão de culturas (CMSC5); 6) Plantio direto com sucessão de culturas (PDSC6) e 7) Plantio direto com sucessão de cultura (PDSC7). Foram analisados nos mesmos pontos de coleta a fauna edáfica e atributos físico-químicos e microbiológicos do solo. Alguns grupos da fauna edáfica apresentaram potencial para serem usados como indicadores da qualidade do solo, pois se mostraram sensíveis ao sistema de preparo e cultivo do solo. Ao considerarmos todos os atributos edáficos, o tratamento PDRC2 ficou mais afastado dos outros com melhores condições físico-químicas e biológicas do solo, em comparação aos demais, especialmente CMSC5 e PDSC6
Indication for scattering in collisions at 200 GeV
A mass shift of about -40 MeV/ was measured in
collisions at 200 GeV at RHIC. Previous mass shifts have
been observed at CERN-LEBC-EHS and CERN-LEP. We will show that phase space does
not account for the mass shift measured at RHIC, CERN-LEBC-EHS
and CERN-LEP and conclude that there are significant scattering interactions in

Strange Hadron Resonances and QGP Freeze-out
We describe how the abundance and distribution of hyperon resonances can be
used to probe freeze-out conditions. We demonstrate that resonance yields allow
us to measure the time scales of chemical and thermal freeze-outs. This should
permit a direct differentiation between the explosive sudden, and staged

Thermal analysis of production of resonances in relativistic heavy-ion collisions
Production of resonances is considered in the framework of the
single-freeze-out model of ultra-relativistic heavy ion collisions. The
formalism involves the virial expansion, where the probability to form a
resonance in a two-body channel is proportional to the derivative of the
phase-shift with respect to the invariant mass. The thermal model incorporates
longitudinal and transverse flow, as well as kinematic cuts of the STAR
experiment at RHIC. We find that the shape of the pi+ pi- spectral line
qualitatively reproduces the preliminary experimental data when the position of
the rho peak is lowered. This confirms the need to include the medium effects
in the description of the RHIC data. We also analyze the transverse-momentum
spectra of rho, K*(892), and f_0(980), and find that the slopes agree with the
observed values. Predictions are made for eta, eta', omega, phi, Lambda(1520),

Evidence for chemical equilibration at RHIC
This contribution focuses on the results of statistical model calculations at
RHIC energies, including recently available experimental data. Previous
calculations of particle yield ratios showed good agreement with measurements
at SPS and lower energies, suggesting that the composite system possesses a
high degree of chemical equilibrium at freeze-out. The effect of feeddown
contamination on the model parameters is discussed, and the sensitivity of

A microscopic approach to heating rate of ferrofluid droplets by a magnetic field
CNPQ - CONSELHO NACIONAL DE DESENVOLVIMENTO CIENTÍFICO E TECNOLÓGICOCAPES - COORDENAÇÃO DE APERFEIÇOAMENTO DE PESSOAL E NÍVEL SUPERIORIn this work, we study the heating process of colloidal ferrofluids by a magnetic field. The heating of the fluid occurs by the magnetic relaxation of the nanoparticles which provide thermal energy for the host liquid. In the limit of small volumes, the relaxation process occurs through the Neel mechanism since the magnetic nanoparticles present superparamagnetic behavior. Within this limit, we have used a microscopic model for the coupling to phonons and external magnetic field in order to model the relaxation mechanism and to obtain an expression for the heating rate of the fluid as a function of microscopic parameters. Production of resonances in a thermal model: invariant-mass spectra and balance functions
We present a calculation of the pi+ pi- invariant-mass correlations and the
pion balance functions in the single-freeze-out model. A satisfactory agreement

Resonance Production
Recent results on rho(770)^0, K(892)^*0, f_0(980), phi(1020), Delta(1232)^++,
and Lambda(1520) production in A+A and p+p collisions at SPS and RHIC energies
are presented. These resonances are measured via their hadronic decay channels
and used as a sensitive tool to examine the collision dynamics in the hadronic
medium through their decay and regeneration. The modification of resonance
