This project presents and focuses on a sample of apps resulting from a novel and successful mobile device software development course taught at Clemson University. Today\u27s smartphones are filled with ample features. This presents a challenge for a student wanting to learn about developing mobile apps. At Clemson University, a senior/first year graduate-level course uses a novel approach to deliver the course content. This poster briefly describes the course. The software development course uses a novel teaching technique called open collaboration. The course is divided in two sections; the first section is common to all students wherein students are required to complete a set of four assignments that help them get acquainted to the platform. When students finish the common set of assignments they work on a project. Using this novel approach we were able to develop variety of apps like The Strawberry and Peach Project, Firefly Counter, Clemson Tour for Android, mHealth app, Virginia Woolf app, Touch-Calc app

    An SU(5)\otimesZ_{13} Grand Unification Model

We propose an SU(5) grand unified model with an invisible axion and the unification of the three coupling constants which is in agreement with the values, at MZM_Z, of α\alpha, αs\alpha_s, and sin2θW\sin^2\theta_W. A discrete, anomalous, Z13Z_{13} symmetry implies that the Peccei-Quinn symmetry is an automatic symmetry of the classical Lagrangian protecting, at the same time, the invisible axion against possible semi-classical gravity effects. Although the unification scale is of the order of the Peccei-Quinn scale the proton is stabilized by the fact that in this model the standard model fields form the SU(5) multiplets completed by new exotic fields and, also, because it is protected by the Z13Z_{13} symmetry.Comment: 14 pages, more typos correcte

A study on the performance of sodium mercaptobenzothiazole (NMBT) collector on the flotation of Black Mountain ore

    Get PDF
This paper investigated the performance of Sodium Mercaptobenzothiazole (NMBT) as a collector in the flotation of Black Mountain ore. The ore contains metals such as lead, copper and zinc and the associated minerals of economic importance are chalcopyrite, galena and sphalerite respectively, with traces of silver. The study evaluated the effectiveness of the collector and how pH affects the recovery of minerals in particular copper. The performance of the collector was influenced by mineral surface chemistry. The experimental test work was conducted at varying pH levels using Denver flotation cell in order to investigate the collector performance in a basic medium. The experiments were conducted at two different test runs of slightly basic solutions of pH 8.5 and 9.0. The results of both fresh ore and floated ore samples were analysed using XRF. Although Black mountain ore contains small quantities of copper as compared to other ores, a significant amount was recovered (±78% of the available copper in the ore), as an indication of the performance of NMBT

This research is purposed to find out the effect of Vegetable Waste Compost and NPK Tablets compost fertilizer against growth and production of Sweet Corn (Zea mays L. Var. saccharata Sturt). The experiment held in experimental field of Agriculture Faculty of Riau University began from June 2013 to September 2013, this experiment used group random program in factorial form. The first factor is Vegetable Waste fertilizer in three level of fertilizer, K1 = 94 g/crop (5 ton/ha) K2 = 187 g/crop (10 ton/ha) K3 = 281 g/crop (15 ton/ha). The second factor is NPK Tablets in three level of fertilizer, T1 = 2 tablets/crop T2 = 4 tablets/crop T3 = 6 tablets /crop. The observation parameters are the plantation growth rate (cm), the plantation net-weight (g) in 42 days, the appearance of male flower (HST), the appearance of female flower (HST), the weight per cob (g), and the production per 3m2. Giving vegetable waste compost affects in appearance of male and female flower but does not affect the plantation growth rate, the net-weight of plantation, the weight per cob and the production per plot. Giving NPK Tablets does not affect the plantation growth rate, the net-weight of plantation, the weight per cob and the production per plot

SU(N) group-theory constraints on color-ordered five-point amplitudes at all loop orders

Color-ordered amplitudes for the scattering of n particles in the adjoint representation of SU(N) gauge theory satisfy constraints arising solely from group theory. We derive these constraints for n=5 at all loop orders using an iterative approach. These constraints generalize well-known tree-level and one-loop group theory relations.Comment: 16 pages, no figures; v2: minor corrections and clarifications, published versio

Mangrove clam Pegophysema philippiana Reeve, 1850, is common to mangroves muddy substrate in Baganga, Davao Oriental, particularly in barangay Kinablangan, Lucod, Salingcomot and Bobonao. Sampling was done on May 2-7, 2022, during high tide. Mangrove clam length-weight relationship was calculated using the exponential equation W = aLb. A total of 769 mangrove clams were collected during sampling. The biggest (4.4 ± 0.81cm) and heaviest (43.4 ± 25.3 g) clams were recorded at Bobonao, the smallest was measured at Lucod (3.7 ± 0.65 cm), and the lightest clam was found at Kinablangan (26.8 ± 16.28 g). ANOVA detected significant differences (p < 0.05) in length and weight of mangrove clams between sites. Length-weight relationship of mangrove clam exhibited a strong positive relationship between length and weight; however, different values of slopes were noted. This is very common in bivalves because they are very sensitive to environmental changes. In general, the length-weight relationship of mangrove clam in Baganga, Davao Oriental, revealed allometric growth pattern.
