The electromagnetic effects in Ke4K_{e4} decay

The final state interaction of pions in Ke4K_{e4} decay allows one to obtain the value of the isospin and angular momentum zero ππ\pi\pi scattering length a00a_0^0.We take into account the electromagnetic interaction of pions and isospin symmetry breaking effects caused by different masses of neutral and charged pions and estimate the impact of these effects on the procedure of scattering length extraction from Ke4K_{e4} decay.Comment: 8 pages,1 figur

Soft-photon corrections in multi-body meson decays

The effects due to soft-photon emission (and the related virtual corrections) in multi-body decays of B, D, and K mesons are analysed. We present analytic expressions for the universal O(alpha) correction factors which can be applied to all multi-body decay modes where a tight soft-photon energy cut in the decaying-particle rest-frame is applied. All-order resummations valid in the limit of small and large velocities of the final-state particles are also discussed. The phenomenological implications of these correction factors in the distortion of Dalitz-plot distributions of K -> 3 pi decays are briefly analysed.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures (v2: minor modifications - published version

The isospin symmetry breaking effects in Ke4K_{e4} decays

The Fermi-Watson theorem is generalized to the case of two coupled channels with different masses and applied to final state interaction in Ke4K_{e4} decays. The impact of considered effect on the phase of the ππ\pi\pi scattering is estimated and shown that it can be crucial for scattering lengths extraction from experimental data on Ke4K_{e4} decays

Matrix Elements without Quark Masses on the Lattice

We introduce a new parameterization of four-fermion matrix elements which does not involve quark masses and thus allows a reduction of systematic uncertainties in physical amplitudes. As a result the apparent quadratic dependence of e'/e on m_s is removed. To simplify the matching between lattice and continuum renormalization schemes, we express our results in terms of Renormalization Group Invariant B-parameters which are renormalization-scheme and scale independent. As an application of our proposal, matrix elements of DeltaI=3/2 and SUSY DeltaF=2 (F=S,C,BF=S,C,B) four-fermion operators have been computed.Comment: LATTICE99(Matrix Elements), 3 pages, 1 figure, BUHEP-99-2

Final state interaction in kaons decays

The kaons decays to the pairs of charged and neutral pions are considered in the framework of the non-relativistic quantum mechanics. The general expressions for the decay amplitudes to the two different channels accounting for the strong interaction between pions are obtained. The developed approach allows one to estimate the contribution of terms of any order in strong interaction and correctly takes into account the electromagnetic interaction between the pions in the final state.Comment: 8 page

    The CP-violating asymmetry in K_L -> pi+ pi- e+ e-

We update the theoretical analysis of the CP-violating asymmetry in the decay K_L -> pi+ pi- e+ e-, relying on chiral perturbation theory and on the most recent phenomenological information. With the experimentally determined magnetic amplitude and branching ratio as input, the asymmetry can be calculated with good accuracy. The theoretical interpretation of the sign of the asymmetry is discussed.Comment: 11 page

Semileptonic Hyperon Decays on the Lattice: an Exploratory Study

We present preliminary results of an exploratory lattice study of the vector form factor f1(q2=0)f_1(q^2 = 0) relevant for the semileptonic hyperon decay Σ>nlν\Sigma^{-} --> n l \nu. This study is based on the same method used for the extraction of f+(0)f^+(0) for the decay K0>πlνK^0 --> \pi^{-} l \nu. The main purpose of this study is to test the method for hyperon form factors in order to estimate the precision that can be reached and the importance of SU(3)-breaking effects.Comment: 3 pages, 5 figures, talk presented at Lattice2004(weak), Fermilab, Batavia, Illinois, 21-26 June 200

First Calculation of Hyperon Axial Couplings from Lattice QCD

In this work, we report the first lattice calculation of hyperon axial couplings, using the 2+1-flavor MILC configurations and domain-wall fermion valence quarks. Both the Σ\Sigma and Ξ\Xi axial couplings are computed for the first time in lattice QCD. In particular we find that gΣΣ=0.450(21)stat(27)systg_{\Sigma\Sigma} = 0.450(21)_{\rm stat}(27)_{\rm syst} and gΞΞ=0.277(15)stat(19)systg_{\Xi\Xi} = -0.277(15)_{\rm stat}(19)_{\rm syst}.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figure

CBM1, a Neurospora crassa genomic cosmid library in pAC3 and its use for walking on the right arm of linkage group VII

    Get PDF
Gene cloning in Neurospora crassa is often achieved by mutant complementation. However, the cloning strategy sometimes requires the isolation of a specific genomic region (by chromosome walking) before transformation of N. crassa. This is the case, for example, if the gene to be isolated has a non-selectable phenotype. Here we specifically describe the construction of the cosmid vector, pAC3, which is designed for direct transformation of N. crassa, its utilization for the construction of a genomic library, and chromosome walking in the region of un-10 on linkage group VII

Model independent determination of the shape function for inclusive B decays and of the structure functions in DIS

    Get PDF
We present a method to compute, by numerical simulations of lattice QCD, the inclusive semileptonic differential decay rates of heavy hadrons and the structure functions which occur in deep inelastic scattering. The method is based on first principles and does not require any model assumption. It allows the prediction of the differential rate in B semileptonic decays for values of the recoiling hadronic mass W ~ sqrt(M_B Lambda_QCD), which is in the relevant region to extract |V_ub| from the end-point of the lepton spectrum in inclusive decays.Comment: 16 pages, LaTeX fil
