A MOOC on Nuclear and RadioChemistry (NRC) has been developed within the EU-H2020 MEET-CINCH project, in order to attract more students towards the discipline and increase people awareness. The course is divided into five “weeks” highlighting the importance of radiochemistry and nuclear chemistry for environment, health, industry, nuclear energy and society. Each week consists of different modules covering all possible applications of NRC within the week topic. The module follows a pedagogical framework designed ad hoc, that gradually introduces the topic to students, giving them different examples and applications to understand the theoretical concepts and to acquire a technical terminology. Feedback obtained by the pilot edition showed very good results: despite the short duration of the course, 25% of the 203 users successfully completed the course achieving the Certificate of Accomplishment. The answers collected in the inital survey and the final customer satisfaction questionnaire showed that users belonged to the selected target group and greatly appreciated the presence of practical examples and the different lesson formats adopted. The MOOC objective of attracting new students towards NRC appears to be on a good track, however this can only be confirmed by monitoring the next MOOC editions

Fresh-frozen human bone graft to repair defect after mandibular giant follicular cyst removal: a case report.

The purpose of this article is to report the clinical, radiographical and histological findings about a case of a young woman affected by a mandibular giant follicular cyst. Conservative tumor resection was followed by immediate reconstructive treatment using fresh frozen human bone graft, instead of autologous bone graft, as material for bone regeneration. Follicular cyst is a benign, non invasive lesion with slow but progressive growth. Radiological and histological examination of the lesion confirmed the presence of a follicular cyst which underwent biopsy evaluation before enucleation. According to literature, conservative treatment was performed with optimal prognosis. At 24 months post surgery no evidence of recurrency was objective; the CT scan revealed optimal bone formation inside the reconstructed site. The use of fresh frozen bone allograft, thanks to its osteoinductive and osteoconductive properties, can be a safe choice for reconstruction of bone defects after jaw cysts removal

Two alternative methods for the infection evaluation were applied to the data assessed using two different scales on four field trials concenrning the efficacy of fungicides against grapevine downy and powdery miledw. Statistical analysis showed that in some cases significant differences depended on the applied method. Some parameters, proposed in order to evaluate the infection severity on the host, do not adequately describe the field situation. The infection index I%I, as proposed by Townsend and Heuberger (1943), takes into account both infection severity and incidence
