Disentangling Intertwined Embedded States and Spin Effects in Light-Front Quantization
Naive light-front quantization, carried out by a light-front energy
integration of covariant amplitudes, is not guaranteed to generate the
corresponding Feynman amplitudes. In an explicit example we show that the
nonvalence contribution to the minus-component of the EM current of a meson
with fermion constituents has a persistent end-point singularity. Only after
this term is subtracted, the result is covariant and satisfies current
conservation. If the spin-1/2 constituents are replaced by spin zero ones, the
singularity does not occur and the result is, without any adjustment, identical
to the Feynman amplitude. Numerical estimates of valence and nonvalence
contributions are presented for the cases of fermion and boson constituents.Comment: 17 pages and 9 figure
Chiral-Odd and Spin-Dependent Quark Fragmentation Functions and their Applications
We define a number of quark fragmentation functions for spin-0, -1/2 and -1
hadrons, and classify them according to their twist, spin and chirality. As an
example of their applications, we use them to analyze semi-inclusive

Quark Orbital-Angular-Momentum Distribution in the Nucleon
We introduce gauge-invariant quark and gluon angular momentum distributions
after making a generalization of the angular momentum density operators. From
the quark angular momentum distribution, we define the gauge-invariant and
leading-twist quark {\it orbital} angular momentum distribution . The
latter can be extracted from data on the polarized and unpolarized quark
distributions and the off-forward distribution in the forward limit. We
comment upon the evolution equations obeyed by this as well as other orbital

On Secular Resonances of Small Bodies in the Planetary Systems
We investigate the secular resonances for massless small bodies and
Earth-like planets in several planetary systems. We further compare the results
with those of Solar System. For example, in the GJ 876 planetary system, we
show that the secular resonances and (respectively, resulting
from the inner and outer giant planets) can excite the eccentricities of the
Earth-like planets with orbits 0.21 AU 0.50 AU and eject them out of
the system in a short timescale. However, in a dynamical sense, the potential
zones for the existence of Earth-like planets are in the area 0.50 AU 1.00 AU, and there exist all stable orbits last up to yr with low
eccentricities. For other systems, e.g., 47 UMa, we also show that the
Habitable Zones for Earth-like planets are related to both secular resonances

Effect of nickel on the microstructure and mechanical property of die-cast Al–Mg–Si–Mn alloy
The effect of nickel on the microstructure and mechanical properties of a die-cast Al–Mg–Si–Mn alloy has been investigated. The results show that the presence of Ni in the alloy promotes the formation of Ni-rich intermetallics. These occur consistently during solidification in the die-cast Al–Mg–Si–Mn alloy across different levels of Ni content. The Ni-rich intermetallics exhibit dendritic morphology during the primary solidification and lamellar morphology during the eutectic solidification stage. Ni was found to be always associated with iron forming AlFeMnSiNi intermetallics, and no Al3Ni intermetallic was observed when Ni concentrations were up to 2.06 wt% in the alloy. Although with different morphologies, the Ni-rich intermetallics were identified as the same AlFeMnSiNi phase bearing a typical composition of Al[100–140](Fe,Mn)[2–7]SiNi[4–9]. With increasing Ni content, the spacing of the α-Al–Mg2Si eutectic phase was enlarged in the Al–Mg–Si–Mn alloy. The addition of Ni to the alloy resulted in a slight increase in the yield strength, but a significant decrease in the elongation. The ultimate tensile strength (UTS) increased slightly from 300 to 320 MPa when a small amount (e.g. 0.16 wt%) of Ni was added to the alloy, but further increase of the Ni content resulted in a decrease of the UTS.The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), Technology Strategy Board (TSB) and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) in the United Kingdom
The box diagram in Yukawa theory
We present a light-front calculation of the box diagram in Yukawa theory. The
covariant box diagram is finite for the case of spin-1/2 constituents
exchanging spin-0 particles. In light-front dynamics, however, individual
time-ordered diagrams are divergent. We analyze the corresponding light-front
singularities and show the equivalence between the light-front and covariant
