Photon - Jet Correlations and Constraints on Fragmentation Functions
We study the production of a large-pT photon in association with a jet in
proton-proton collisions. We examine the sensitivity of the jet rapidity
distribution to the gluon distribution function in the proton. We then assess
the sensitivity of various photon + jet correlation observables to the photon
fragmentation functions. We argue that RHIC data on photon-jet correlations can
be used to constrain the photon fragmentation functions in a region which was
barely accessible in LEP experiments.Comment: 23 pages, 9 figure
Domino D3.1 - Architecture definition
This deliverable presents the concept of operation of Domino. It includes a description of the systems, subsystems and processes that will be taken into account in the model, as well as the general scope of the model. For each of the mechanisms suggested to be modelled in the project, the deliverable provides a set of possible operational concepts and uptake/scope to be deployed
Higher dimensional abelian Chern-Simons theories and their link invariants
The role played by Deligne-Beilinson cohomology in establishing the relation
between Chern-Simons theory and link invariants in dimensions higher than three
is investigated. Deligne-Beilinson cohomology classes provide a natural abelian
Chern-Simons action, non trivial only in dimensions , whose parameter
is quantized. The generalized Wilson -loops are observables of the
theory and their charges are quantized. The Chern-Simons action is then used to
compute invariants for links of -loops, first on closed
-manifolds through a novel geometric computation, then on
through an unconventional field theoretic computation.Comment: 40 page
Modus D5.1 Definition of use cases
Within the Modus project, one of the main goals is to analyse how the performance of the overall European transport system can be optimized by considering the entire door-to-door journey holistically and considering air transport within an integrated, multimodal approach. In this regard, it is essential to identify the main barriers in achieving European (air) mobility goals and how air transport can evolve by efficiently connecting information and services with other transport modes to achieve a seamless journey experience for passengers. For this particular purposes, a set of use cases is identified and defined within this deliverable D5.1

Cross section of isolated prompt photons in hadron-hadron collisions
We consider the production of isolated prompt photons in hadronic collisions.
We present a general discussion in QCD perturbation theory of the isolation
criterion used by hadron collider experiments. The isolation criterion is
implemented in a computer programme of the Monte Carlo type, which evaluates
the production cross section at next-to-leading order accuracy in perturbative
QCD. The calculation includes both the direct and the fragmentation components
of the cross section, without any approximation of the dependence on the radius
R of the isolation cone. We examine the scale dependence of the isolated cross
section, the sensitivity of the cross section to the values of the isolation
parameters, and we provide a quantitative comparison between the full R
dependence and its small-R approximation.Comment: 29 pages, 1 figure, few comments slightly expanded, results
