Early resistance change and stress/electromigration evolution in near bamboo interconnects
A complete description for early resistance change and mechanical stress evolution in near-bamboo interconnects, related to the electromigration, is given in this paper. The proposed model, for the first time, combines the stress/vacancy concentration evolution with the early resistance change of the Al line with a near-bamboo microstructure, which has been proven to be a fast technique for prediction of the MTF of a line compared to the conventional (accelerated) stres
Resolvent Estimates in L^p for the Stokes Operator in Lipschitz Domains
We establish the resolvent estimates for the Stokes operator in
Lipschitz domains in , for . The result, in particular, implies that the Stokes operator in a
three-dimensional Lipschitz domain generates a bounded analytic semigroup in
for (3/2)-\varep < p< 3+\epsilon. This gives an affirmative answer to a
conjecture of M. Taylor.Comment: 28 page. Minor revision was made regarding the definition of the
Stokes operator in Lipschitz domain
The mixed problem for the Laplacian in Lipschitz domains
We consider the mixed boundary value problem or Zaremba's problem for the
Laplacian in a bounded Lipschitz domain in R^n. We specify Dirichlet data on
part of the boundary and Neumann data on the remainder of the boundary. We
assume that the boundary between the sets where we specify Dirichlet and
Neumann data is a Lipschitz surface. We require that the Neumann data is in L^p
and the Dirichlet data is in the Sobolev space of functions having one
derivative in L^p for some p near 1. Under these conditions, there is a unique
solution to the mixed problem with the non-tangential maximal function of the
gradient of the solution in L^p of the boundary. We also obtain results with
data from Hardy spaces when p=1.Comment: Version 5 includes a correction to one step of the main proof. Since
the paper appeared long ago, this submission includes the complete paper,
followed by a short section that gives the correction to one step in the

Finite Element Convergence for the Joule Heating Problem with Mixed Boundary Conditions
We prove strong convergence of conforming finite element approximations to
the stationary Joule heating problem with mixed boundary conditions on
Lipschitz domains in three spatial dimensions. We show optimal global
regularity estimates on creased domains and prove a priori and a posteriori
bounds for shape regular meshes.Comment: Keywords: Joule heating problem, thermistors, a posteriori error
analysis, a priori error analysis, finite element metho
Discrete exterior calculus (DEC) for the surface Navier-Stokes equation
We consider a numerical approach for the incompressible surface Navier-Stokes
equation. The approach is based on the covariant form and uses discrete
exterior calculus (DEC) in space and a semi-implicit discretization in time.
The discretization is described in detail and related to finite difference
schemes on staggered grids in flat space for which we demonstrate second order
convergence. We compare computational results with a vorticity-stream function
approach for surfaces with genus 0 and demonstrate the interplay between
topology, geometry and flow properties. Our discretization also allows to
handle harmonic vector fields, which we demonstrate on a torus.Comment: 21 pages, 9 figure
A Survey on the Krein-von Neumann Extension, the corresponding Abstract Buckling Problem, and Weyl-Type Spectral Asymptotics for Perturbed Krein Laplacians in Nonsmooth Domains
In the first (and abstract) part of this survey we prove the unitary
equivalence of the inverse of the Krein--von Neumann extension (on the
orthogonal complement of its kernel) of a densely defined, closed, strictly
positive operator, for some in a Hilbert space to an abstract buckling problem operator.
This establishes the Krein extension as a natural object in elasticity theory
(in analogy to the Friedrichs extension, which found natural applications in
quantum mechanics, elasticity, etc.).
In the second, and principal part of this survey, we study spectral
properties for , the Krein--von Neumann extension of the
perturbed Laplacian (in short, the perturbed Krein Laplacian)
defined on , where is measurable, bounded and
nonnegative, in a bounded open set belonging to a
class of nonsmooth domains which contains all convex domains, along with all
domains of class , .Comment: 68 pages. arXiv admin note: extreme text overlap with arXiv:0907.144

Spectral bounds for the Neumann-Poincaré operator on planar domains with corners
The boundary double layer potential, or the Neumann-PoincarĂ© operator, is studied on the Sobolev space of order 1/2 along the boundary, coinciding with the space of charges giving rise to double layer potentials with finite energy in the whole space. PoincarĂ©âs program of studying the spectrum of the boundary double layer potential is developed in complete generality on closed Lipschitz hypersurfaces in euclidean space. Furthermore, the Neumann-PoincarĂ© operator is realized as a singular integral transform bearing similarities to the Beurling-Ahlfors transform in 2 dimensions. As an application, in the case of planar curves with corners, bounds for the spectrum of the Neumann-PoincarĂ© operator are derived from recent results in quasi-conformal mapping theory
Analysis of segregated boundary-domain integral equations for BVPs with non-smooth coefficients on Lipschitz domains
Segregated direct boundary-domain integral equations (BDIEs) based on a parametrix and associated with the Dirichlet and Neumann boundary value problems for the linear stationary diffusion partial differential equation with a variable Hölder-continuous coefficients on Lipschitz domains are formulated. The PDE right-hand sides belong to the Sobolev (Bessel potential) space Hsâ2(Ω ) or HËsâ2(Ω ) , 12<s<32, when neither strong classical nor weak canonical co-normal derivatives are well defined. Equivalence of the BDIEs to the original BVP, BDIE solvability, solution uniqueness/non-uniqueness, and the Fredholm property and invertibility of the BDIE operators are analysed in appropriate Sobolev spaces. It is shown that the BDIE operators for the Neumann BVP are not invertible; however, some finite-dimensional perturbations are constructed leading to invertibility of the perturbed (stabilised) operators.EPSR

The transmission problem on a three-dimensional wedge
We consider the transmission problem for the Laplace equation on an infinite three-dimensional wedge, determining the complex parameters for which the problem is well-posed, and characterizing the infinite multiplicity nature of the spectrum. This is carried out in two formulations leading to rather different spectral pictures. One formulation is in terms of square integrable boundary data, the other is in terms of finite energy solutions. We use the layer potential method, which requires the harmonic analysis of a non-commutative non-unimodular group associated with the wedge
