CO-OPERATING TO COMPETE IN HIGH VELOCITY GLOBAL MARKETS: THE STRATEGIC ROLE OF FLEXIBLE SUPPLY CHAIN ARCHITECTURES
Continued value creation is paramount for the survival of firms competing in today's high velocity global business environment. This paper presents a conceptual framework for understanding how firms can create and capture value within a highly volatile and uncertain business environment by exploiting both performance gaps and opportunity gaps through the development and use of flexible supply chain architectures. The choice of flexible organizational architecture allows for the continued reconfiguration of the independent modular components of the supply chain so as to achieve optimal leverage of both the firms core competencies as well as their collaborative partners complementary resources. The case of Cellars of Canterbury, a New Zealand based International wine marketing and distribution cooperative enterprise provides empirical support.Industrial Organization, International Relations/Trade,

Information seeking in the Humanities: physicality and digitality
This paper presents a brief overview of a research project
that is examining the information seeking practices of
humanities scholars. The results of this project are being
used to develop digital resources to better support these
work activities. Initial findings from a recent set of
interviews is offered, revealing the importance of physical
artefacts in the humanities scholarsâ research processes and
the limitations of digital resources. Finally, further work
that is soon to be undertaken is summarised, and it is hoped
that after participation in this workshop these ideas will be
refined

Danesh: Interactive Tools For Understanding Procedural Content Generators
In order to advance the field of procedural content generation, and transfer knowledge from academic research to everyday use, we need to develop tools that make generative systems easier to understand and control. In this paper we introduce Danesh, a plugin to the Unity game development environment. We describe Danesh's various features, including automatic analysis and visualisation tools, and provide reflections on both our development of the tool and our experiences of using it in educational contexts
Benefits of a marketing cooperative in transition agriculture: MĂłrakert purchasing and service co-operative
The paper analyses the potential benefits of marketing cooperatives in Hungary, employing a transaction cost economics framework. We found that the purchased quantity, the existence of contracts, flexibility and trust are the most important factors farmers consider when selling their products via a cooperative. The most striking result is that diversification has positive influences on the share of cooperatives in farmersâ sale. Furthermore, farmers with larger bargaining power have less willingness to sell their product to the cooperative. Surprisingly, asset specificity has rather negative effects on the share of cooperatives in membersâ sales
