Ground State H-Atom in Born-Infeld Theory
Within the context of Born-Infeld (BI) nonlinear electrodynamics (NED) we
revisit the non-relativistic, spinless H-atom. The pair potential computed from
the Born-Infeld equations is approximated by the Morse type potential with
remarkable fit over the critical region where the convergence of both the short
and long distance expansions slows down dramatically. The Morse potential is
employed to determine both the ground state energy of the electron and the BI

Nonperturbative calculation of Born-Infeld effects on the Schroedinger spectrum of the hydrogen atom
We present the first nonperturbative numerical calculations of the
nonrelativistic hydrogen spectrum as predicted by first-quantized
electrodynamics with nonlinear Maxwell-Born-Infeld field equations. We also
show rigorous upper and lower bounds on the ground state.
When judged against empirical data our results significantly restrict the
range of viable values of the new electromagnetic constant which is introduced
by the Born-Infeld theory.

Gas Centrifuge Enrichment Plant Seismic Time History Development
The objective of this study is to generate a number of artificial-spectrum consistent-time histories for use in the seismic analysis of the Gas Centrifuge Enrichment Plant (GCEP) service modules (SM). The method used in the generation of the artificial time histories presented in this report makes use of the fast Fourier transform (FFT) algorithm to modify the Fourier frequency spectrum of a recorded accelerogram. The response spectrum of the generated accelerogram is consistent with the spectrum specification given by USAEC Regulatory Guide 1.60. Five statistically independent time histories have been developed. These accelerograms are based on recorded West Coast accelerations that meet specific requirements associated with the location of the recording station with regard to the epicenter. A strategy to combine pathway-targeted low toxicity drugs in ovarian cancer.
Serous Ovarian Cancers (SOC) are frequently resistant to programmed cell death. However, here we describe that these programmed death-resistant cells are nonetheless sensitive to agents that modulate autophagy. Cytotoxicity is not dependent upon apoptosis, necroptosis, or autophagy resolution. A screen of NCBI yielded more than one dozen FDA-approved agents displaying perturbed autophagy in ovarian cancer. The effects were maximized via combinatorial use of the agents that impinged upon distinct points of autophagy regulation. Autophagosome formation correlated with efficacy in vitro and the most cytotoxic two agents gave similar effects to a pentadrug combination that impinged upon five distinct modulators of autophagy. However, in a complex in vivo SOC system, the pentadrug combination outperformed the best two, leaving trace or no disease and with no evidence of systemic toxicity. Targeting the autophagy pathway in a multi-modal fashion might therefore offer a clinical option for treating recalcitrant SOC
Additional Support for Simple Imputation of Missing Quality of Life Data in Nursing Research
Background. Missing data are a significant problem in health-related quality of life (HRQOL) research. We evaluated two imputation approaches: missing data estimation (MDE) and assignment of mean score (AMS). Methods. HRQOL data were collected using the Medical Outcomes Trust SF-12. Missing data were estimated using both approaches, summary statistics were produced for both, and results were compared using intraclass correlations (ICC). Results. Missing data were imputed for 21 participants. Mean values were similar, with ICC >.99 within both the Physical Component Summary and the Mental Component Summary when comparing the two methodologies. When imputed data were added into the full study sample, mean scores were identical regardless of methodology. Conclusion. Results support the use of a practical and simple imputation strategy of replacing missing values with the mean of the sample in cross-sectional studies when less than half of the required items of the SF-12 components are missing
Patterns of Interaction Among Local Public Health Officials and the Adoption of Recommended Practices
The network that local health officials use to communicate about professional issues contains two groups of LHDs that are influential for either their ability to spread information or to innovate. Both groups are more likely to conduct community health assessments and develop health improvement plans. Since these activities are fundamental aspects of accreditation and health reform, the findings may present an early indication that these initiatives are having an effect on the public health system
Observations of Low Frequency Solar Radio Bursts from the Rosse Solar-Terrestrial Observatory
The Rosse Solar-Terrestrial Observatory (RSTO; www.rosseobservatory.ie) was
established at Birr Castle, Co. Offaly, Ireland (53 05'38.9", 7 55'12.7") in
2010 to study solar radio bursts and the response of the Earth's ionosphere and
geomagnetic field. To date, three Compound Astronomical Low-cost Low-frequency
Instrument for Spectroscopy and Transportable Observatory (CALLISTO)
spectrometers have been installed, with the capability of observing in the
frequency range 10-870 MHz. The receivers are fed simultaneously by biconical
and log-periodic antennas. Nominally, frequency spectra in the range 10-400 MHz
are obtained with 4 sweeps per second over 600 channels. Here, we describe the
RSTO solar radio spectrometer set-up, and present dynamic spectra of a sample
of Type II, III and IV radio bursts. In particular, we describe fine-scale
structure observed in Type II bursts, including band splitting and rapidly
varying herringbone features
