    A Comparative Analysis and Scoping Review of Soft–Rigid and Industrial Parallel Rigid Grippers

    In this research, it is aimed to present a comparative analysis of soft–rigid industrial parallel rigid grippers to compare their technical capabilities and assess the potential for soft–rigid grippers to address the challenge of grasping fragile objects with various shapes and sizes. In this research, 24 soft–rigid grippers are first identified through a scoping review using the Web of Science database, capturing their technical features and performance. Providing a variable stiffness grasp (n = 9, 37.5%) and a limited grasp capability (n = 8, 33.3%) is the most common advantage and challenge, respectively, of soft–rigid grippers. Pneumatic actuators (n = 12, 50.0%), followed by tendon-driven electric rotary actuators (n = 9, 37.5%), are the predominant actuators used for soft–rigid grippers. Soft–rigid grippers are found to have a lower output force-to-weight ratio (n = 9, median (Formula presented.), standard deviation (σ) = 15.17) in comparison to industrial parallel rigid grippers (n = 63, (Formula presented.), (Formula presented.)), but can provide a larger range of motion (n = 20, (Formula presented.), (Formula presented.)). This is the first quantitative comparative analysis between industrial parallel rigid and soft–rigid grippers, enhancing the understanding of their status and prospects in industrial applications. Herein, a common approach is proposed to standardize reporting to facilitate benchmarking between research-based and industrial grippers and highlight controlling soft–rigid grippers is an underexplored area that can enhance the technology's performance

We report a patient with clinical and radiologic findings of ochronotic arthropathy in whom alkaptonuria disappeared and the progressive course of the disease stopped after liver transplantation for hepatitis B-related cirrhosis.     PubMedID: 16644604This story investigated the effects of interferon-alpha-2b (IFN-?2b) on the optic nerves of 17 adult male Wistar albino rats. Animals were divided into 3 groups: 6 rats (group 1) received 7.5 units (5 mIU/m 2 ) IFN-?2b-a normal treatment dose, and 6 (groups 2) received 30.0 units (20 mIU/m 2 )-a high dose; 5 rats (control group) received 0.5 mL saline. Test substances were delivered by intraperitoneal injection 3 times a week for 3 weeks with animals under inhalation anesthesia. After the rats were sacrificed, their optic nerves were dissected, sectioned, and examined under an electron microscope. The mean thicknesses of the basal membranes of blood vessels were 86.354 nm in the control group, 104.297 nm in group 1, and 140.181 nm in group 2. Basal membrane changes in IFN groups were dose dependent. Mitochondrial swelling, degeneration, increased diameter of vacuoles, and vacuolization in the cytoplasm of oligodendrocytes and astrocytes were also observed. IFN-?2b has histopathologic effects on blood vessels and cells of the optic nerve. ©2006 Health Communications Inc

    Rheumatoid nodules are the most common extra-articular lesions. They usually occur in rheumatoid factor positive patients and indicate activity and severity of the disease. These nodules characteristically occur subcutaneously on extensor surfaces over the elbows or other bony prominences. They may be overlooked if they occur in sites other than well-known areas. We present a case with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who developed multiple subcutaneous, histologically- proven rheumatoid nodules in both buttocks as well as on palmar aspects of phalanges after 3.5 years of very low-dose weekly methotrexate (MTX) treatment. These nodules occurred abruptly while there was not active arthritis in any joint. MTX-induced large nodules may occur even with very low doses of MTX, in atypical localizations such as both buttocks. © 2011 by Türkiye Klinikleri
